I was at wikipedia looking at previous WPAC seasons and I went as far back as 1979 and in every season they had at least one cat 5 super typhoon, super typhoons are quite common in the western pacific and this year might be the first one in a very long time that they don't have one.

Amazing that the EPAC is ahead of the WPAC,knowing how active the WPAC always is.But I haved noticed a decrease of activity in that basin in this decade.Another amazing thing was that the Atlantic beat the WPAC in 2005,although it was a very hyperactive season in the Atlantic,never seen before.

A very slow season indeed, compare that to 1997 when they almost had an ACE close to 600.

East Pacific is more active than West Pacific. Pacific is in a less active cycle unlike the Atlantic.
