Moose Jaw SK 35.2C 95F

Peeps here, and everywhere else in Saskatchewan, were definitely doing this :layout: today (one of our last chances to load up on natural vitamin D before we have to :jacket:.) *sigh*

(I had to edited this post to add the below.......it was published the same day I posted the above).

A Record Breaking Day In Sask.
The province is the national hot spot

Reported By Justin Blackwell
Posted September 19, 2009 - 2:55pm

It's been a record breaking day in the province weather wise.

All the way from the far north to the far south.

Regina has broken a record dating back to 1914 with a high of 34 degrees.

Saskatoon's record from 1928 has also fallen after hitting 33 degrees.

"Virtually every station in Saskatchewan is reporting record highs. We have at least 22 stations which have recorded record highs," says Environment Canada's Rob Poala.

And the hot spots for all of Canada....... Moose Jaw and Rosetown hitting highs of 35.

Estevan has shattered it's record high from 1960 after hitting 34 degrees.

The old high was 28.9.

Enjoy it though, because rain is in the forecast for Sunday and a high of only 16.

Holy cow. Congratulations, Sask! That would be hot even here in Texas, this time of year!

Just by chance I logged in to see what was new before crashing for the night (am also waiting for the house to cool off).

somethingfunny I must admit the temperatures in Saskatchewan can rival Texas (well at least up to a month some years) so that is why I am often checking out the Texas threads (though I post in the one that tends to be more tropical, well at least when they have normal weather patterns) right now however that area is/was pretty similar to the northern great plains). We have droughts here too (though not in this province this year.......unfortunately it's Alberta that is being blessed  with drought this time round, ie the lighter shade of red,), and sometimes we get the really, really nasty weather (hail, tornadoes, derechoes, etc).

This year however we've been abnormally cool  and it's really been just the last couple of weeks in August and September that we've had hot summer weather. Thank goodness too as it allowed our crops to ripen.

Our winters however are sadly very different (as I'm sure you can guess).

Lethbridge AB 34.7C 95F

** Calgary is lucky to see 30C+ (86F+) temperatures in July and August, but to experience the hottest day of 2009 on the first full day of autumn shocked even weather experts.
Temperatures peaked at 33.2C 92F and fuelled the hottest Fall day on record in the city as well as the hottest day of the year, beating the 31.7C 89F reading on August 1.
There has never been a warmer moment in Fall in Calgary!

It marked 2009's 6th temperature above 30C in Calgary, and the third this month! The afternoon mercury was a whopping 17 degrres (C) above the seasonal average of 16C 60F, which is rather BIZARRE. The previous record for Sept 23 was set in 1970 when thermometers reached 29.7C 86F. It is very hard to break a record in Calgary becasue they go so far back ( 1880s) but when they do, it gets broken by a fraction of a degree usually, not by several degrees.

The hottest known spot in the province on Wednesday was Lethbridge at 34.7C (near 95F).

Sure is rare to be seeing these 90s so far north while seeing SNOW in Colorado...
