Azskyman. I agree 100%. Colin Powell is very much needed and your right, he does represent moderation. I also agree I would vote for Colin Powell and I hope that he continues to stay in politics for a long time:):). I also think Condi Rice has a bright future;):)

Bush 4 more years, then Colin Powell for 8 years, then Condoleeza Rice for 8 years....

Yeah, I could go for that. ;)

I'd like to see a political scenario like that, too...strangely, around the Bootheel of Missouri, most people identify themselves as Democrats, yet...I've heard it said many times, by many "Democratic" voters, that they would never vote for a minority candidate, no matter what qualifications he/she had. :?:

Streetsolider, yes that would be the biggest obstacle a minority canidate would face I think

What I gathered from the interview on radio with Colin Powell yesterday was that he didn't say he wasn't leaving, but that he had not confirmed this or made it official with anyone, including this "source" for the Washington Post. I don't think Powell will run for President either, although I would like to see that happen. He doesn't appeal enough to the conservative base, which has been evident in this administration.

Perhaps he's clearing the way for a run for the Presidency! Stranger things have happened on Capitol Hill. I would have voted for him last time around.

I agree with everything you said Steve - and I probably would've voted for Powell myself too.
