I travel quite a bit for my job, and am required to travel with several gadgets. Digital camera, laptop, PDA, cell phone and a few others.
I can understand the issue, but why was this not thought of sooner?

Just another reason I'll be less likely to fly in the future.....it's just becoming too much of a hassle.
The day may come that airline passengers will be required to strip to their underwear when passing through security....and I'm not joking. We'd likely all have chuckled at the suggestion of having to remove our shoes two or three years ago --and today it's a sad reality.
They are already frisking little kids -- I know because it happened to my niece Madison last November at the Portland, Oregon airport. She said they treated her just like a criminal...an innocent brown-eyed seven year old

Well there is a reason for things like that.. Just a couple of weeks ago here they found a Gun in a teddy bear that a lil boy was trying to bring on the plane.. He was 7.. Perry your right this realy bites and it should tick you off, but make sure we get mad at the right people.. And thats the terorists, not the ones trying to make sure that all our lil nieces make it to there destinations alive and safe.. and to do that unfortunatly they have to search people, black, white, yellow, old, and young.
Hers the teddy bear article http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic ... teddy+bear

I agree Chad. Terrorist don't care if its a kid they use to achieve their goals. One thing I would say to my daughter is - at least we know we are safe...
Sometimes explaining things to kids and telling them to positive of it instead of what is BAD - they understand and accept what is happening without the connation of feeling like a criminal. Your sister should have explained why and what they were doing and I bet it wouldn't of upset her at all.

LOL MF!!! Not a nice mental picture I just got.. especially considering some of the odd people I have been seated next to on a plane
I know all about being treated like a criminal on an airplane!!! Very embarassing.. my sons diaper was even inspected (lucky for them it was clean!)
This has to be done, and security has always been a big part of my life, so it does not bug me much.. actually the USA was behind in security measures for a long time.. In South Africa, they always had baggage checked, metal detectors etc.. hang they even have that kind of security in shopping malls

What a sad state of affairs this world has come to ya know? Yes......the innocent little children being used in the Mid East as pawns just makes me SICK! When I was overseas in 1978, Egypt to be exact.....seeing little kids (4-5-6 yr olds) being used as beggers for smokes, money etc......that's one scene that will never leave my mind.
Amanzi.....your exactly right, we ARE way behind times in security measures, same time frame, when traveling to Paris on a train no less......the security was TIGHT!!!!! We Americans "had" become too complacent over the years until that dreadful day in Sept.
