Gosh, the track seems to be reminiscent of the Infamous STY Angela (Rosing: RP Name) of 1995. And also nearly the same date.

Angela hit us here in Metro Manila, Nov 4 1995.

Historically, the Subtropical Ridge would appear to be very strong at this time of year.

Also what I fear for is the track, JTWC has forecast the storm to completely miss the Bicol Region and run right smack into Northern Quezon where there are no enough landmass to shield the Metro.

Oaba09, has Manila ever been hit directly from the east as they are saying now? In know Milenyo (Xangsane) came up from the southeast.

I asked my wife last night if she remembered Rosing, she did. Considering the number of storms that come thru the area each year and she remembers one from '95 is pretty remarkable.

Wait. I dunno if you still remember about typhoons Reming and Seniang. Haha. Don't be puzzled out with this. Why am I the only one who can still recall these typhoons that hit metro, maybe 2000 or 2001. Reming (Xangxane) hit NCR as a severe tropical storm. I only noted its rainfall because the waters went in my door. Seniang was a minimal typhoon when it hit Manila, and I noted its strong winds because it made my doors shaking the night of its passage. Haha.

Now, this storm is forecast to be added on my list. o_O

Yep I do remember that, It was a back to back, Reming/Xangsane and Seniang/Bebinca 2000.
We constructed a basketball court.
Reming shook it, and Seniang finished it off :D

Wow. I thought I'm the only one who can recall those two. The names Reming, Seniang and Xangxane (the int'l name) is already known by most of us to be related in 2006 typhoon season.

Hey, it's been 15 years since I had an encounter with a typhoon's eye. The trees outside were all shaking then the environment was at peace suddenly. I tried to look out my window to see if that is already the eye, because if not then maybe the typhoon weakened surprisingly. However, I saw the sky was almost clear, with some clouds on top, I just couldn't describe it any more better. That was the time that I had STY Rosing (Angela) eye to eye

I saw the news a while ago. PAGASA chief Nathaniel Cruz didn't say directly where the storm is currently heading, but he said something like the storm is expected to pass in Central or Southern Luzon area, including NCR.

Thanks, cycloneye. With so many of us in Manila online, we might tend to forget the threat on the Mariana's tonight and tomorrow.

Rosing knocked out the post lines in Manila. It was almost a week or two, if I can clearly recall. I didn't experience the same thing with 2000's Reming, Seniang, and 2006's Milenyo. You can see the pieces of rocks flying with Rosing's intense wind gusts O_O
