Not to downplay at all the wind factor that will be bad enough but if I have to say what is the main concern to Luzon is the copius amounts of rain this system has. Here is the latest image.

Hi, as a Filipino Australian who love the Philippines so much, I've been monitoring this typhoon for the past 2 days from here in Melbourne and I'm a bit disappointed that there seems to be a lack of preparation and warning coming from the government and the media in the Philippines. I've just heard a radio commentator on one AM station in the Philippines said that he does not think the storm would happen as those areas under Signal # 3 seem to be so calm and peaceful! What happened to the phrase "the calm before the storm"??!! And where are the evacuations??? The only precaution I've heard is President Arroyo asking a number of relief trucks on standby. Even calamity preparations seem to have a 'cult of personality' flavor. Hopefully, this wont bring the same level of flooding as Ketsana (Ondoy) but the ground is still saturated and this becomes a real threat. In the event things turn out to be really bad, people have to be made accountable!

Here is the updated pix a few minutes ago, it has clearly accelerated and will impact the Lamon Bay area at around midnight tonight.

From the sat pics, once the winds pass, then the rain.

Manila has about 8 hours before the core of the storm hits then we have at least 6 hours of extreme violent weather.

By the afternoon we should have a grasp of what happened...

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for the information you gave me.
it was such a help in the preparation both at home and at work.
Need to go home now guys.
Hope you will hear from me again on monday.
got no internet at home,.

Yup agree Jon350, when Ondoy came, our rivers were not yet on critical level
and yet massive flooding and destructions. For santi, it is already in critical
level to start with.

God bless us all.

I found this site using Google when I was searching forums dedicated to tropical cyclone discussion. Before, I am only watching you discuss about WPAC TCs in this site, but I eventually joined so I can participate in the discussions. :)

The electric company got overexcited......Power went out for about 5 minutes....this kinda reminds me of typhoon xangsane....similar path of destruction and I believe xangsane also came during night time...

Jim Edds and I have mobile broadband and we'll have internet access as long as the mobile phone network works.

I've just put a couple of pictures online which I shot today from an aid logistics command post http://www.typhoonfury.com
