I wonder if that NE monsoon would still be there or would have a significant effect on this invest...

Well, it's quite hot here right now...I'd rather be cold than hot

Here's a graphic that shows typical typhoon tracks at this time of the year... IF 98W does develop, i hope it will recurve as it nears Eastern Luzon

What do you think?

I think they just changed their main site address slightly. That means if you have it saved on your favorites - that link won't work. Delete it, do a Google search for Joint Typhoon Warning Center, open the site, then re-save. I thought it was down for days, too, until I re-saved it to my favorites. Looks like they are finally doing some site updates.

I'm a total amateur at this but I think that STR right on the system's west might affect it's possible movement...

moving north then northeast is possible for this disturbance. however, if 98W makes it to move westwards, at 140-150E longitude, then that could be a problem. i am not really sure of what i am saying, but the strong NE winds are keeping the cyclones away from moving to the north at this time of the year.
still, at this current position, anything is possible to happen, way early to tell. i'm not disregarding the possibility of 98W dissipating instead of consolidating further

I can get to their main page but when I click on the links to typhoon stuff - nothing comes up either. OK, anybody got JTWC working for them right now???
