Pretty impressive western eyewall. Looks like the Mississippi coast might get it if it holds together. Still looks to be heading NNW....MGC

most of the winds are east and on the north side.. but they are going to some heavy rains..

looks like a lot of the surge is going to go up mobile bay area.. if the motion continues that is...

A ship at 28.0N 88.1W (near the NW eyewall) reported ESE winds of 58 mph and a pressure of 29.41" (996 mb) at 12 PM CST (18z).

Couldn't read buoy number (42207?) on local broadcast, but met says it's showing 72 mph and 23 foot waves. Looks to be SSE of mouth of the river. Also keeps saying Ida moving N but then said it's still NNW and moving faster, 18 mph.

That wind would be blowing away from the center. Certainly suspect. I see the Shell Mars platform near 28.2N/89.2N reporting 55kt winds. But that instrument is several hundred feet above the surface (maybe over 300 feet up).

Notice the eye temperature is 22C and the temp/dewpoint spreads show very moist air around the storm. Ida is still very much a tropical entity.
