Winter is the season it rains and if ENSO is in sync, historically California will get plenty of rainfall this year. In the meantime it is the usual w/ fairly high heights & low dew points.
Some wind-favored areas recorded minimums above 60F [ie. Chatsworth 69F] in metro LA and warmest maximum was 87F in Lake Forest\ El Toro though most stations were near 80F [about 8 degrees above normal].
No rain in sight for the next week except northern California.
Any California posters out there?

I'm flying to Sacramento to visit family this Saturday, I'll be there until the following Sunday.

November was a bust at my location but nearby foothills picked up brief heavy showers twice this month. It was slightly warmer than normal.

It's generally pretty boring around these parts for sure - it got a little exciting when ex-TY Melor's remnants came rampaging thru 'round mid-October, but other than that, same-old same-old
Supposedly Nida was/is supposed to do a similar thing, but doesn't seem to be too much of it left based on the tracking thread in the Tropical Forums.

Nothing as exciting as what Houston was going through, but still pretty rare around these parts.
From radio reports I heard this morning, the snow actually got a lot lower than 1000 feet in some climes with a rain/snow mix (like Walnut Creek, Danville and Pleasanton) but nothing stuck to the ground at those lower elevations.
Weather advisory after snow falls throughout Bay Area
Bay City News
Monday, December 7, 2009
(12-07) 06:43 PST -- The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the East Bay Hills, Santa Cruz Mountains and Diablo Range after snow fell throughout the Bay Area early this morning.
The advisory will last until noon today, and commuters should prepare for potentially slippery roads and limited visibility, the National Weather Service said.
In the East Bay Hills and Santa Cruz Mountains, snow fell this morning at elevations as low as 1,000 feet and 1,500 feet respectively, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents in Danville also reported a rare dusting of snow in the area, saying about 0.5 inches had accumulated by 5:15 a.m. today.
The snowfall is expected to taper off late this morning, the National Weather Service said.
Total snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches is expected at elevations above 1,500 feet, while up to 3 inches could fall in elevations of 1,000 feet.
Light accumulation of snow at elevations around 500 feet is also possible, the National Weather Service said.
Affected counties include San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Marin, Monterey, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma, Santa Clara and Alameda.

Wow, my uncle and cousin live in Pleasanton. I know it is very unusual for them to get any snow. The Diablo's usually get some snow each winter IIRC.

Picked-up 1.06 of cold raw rainfall today. Coldest day of 2009 @ my location: 53F max & it is 44F at 11:30PM. Gusty winds up to 25mph so frost may not materialize. Lowest air pressure I can recall in many yrs: 29.46.

Re: California Weather if there is any!
YES!!!!! The snow was incredible!
Here in the Sacramento area it's apparently the biggest cold snap in a generation. Where we're staying (near Arden and Watt, almost at sea level) we only had a rain/snow mix with some slushy accumulation on the cars' windshields overnight that was gone by morning...but around 500-1000 feet elevation, places like Citrus Heights, Folsom, Roseville and Auburn had 3-6" of snow! We drove up to Placerville (US 50 was closed after that) and I got to play in about 15" of wet snow.
As we speak I'm in Fort Bragg on the coast at my aunt's house. I can hear the ocean crashing on the rocks, and everything's covered with frost.
It's very very cold for California. I'm loving this.
