Possibility of snow on MS Gulf Coast on Friday?
Our local TV MET and some of the NOLA TV MET's were saying last night that there's a slight chance of frozen precipitation and maybe snow along the Mississippi Gulf Coast late Friday night into early Saturday morning. I was at one of my local area hospitals having some tests done yesterday and it was the topic of discussion there too. What's forecasted to come my way, another L going to develop off the TX coast and move towards LA/MS coastlines?

The TV METs are still saying tonight that it might snow here on Friday night or early Saturday morning, several have posted that on Twitter but since no one has posted a response to my initial question which forum are people talking about the possibility of snow here? It may turn out to be minimal or none at all but I've lived here all of my life and the talk of snow coming here gets some of us excited but we know how to drive in thunderstorms but ice on bridges and snow is something else. I remember the last snow we had here, don't remember the year but it snowed here significantly, the town literally went crazy. Didn't NOLA have a good snow last year or was it the year before? I still remember those images of snow covered palm trees in NOLA. As mama use to say "Have mercy, look at that snow shug".

Re: Possibility of snow on MS Gulf Coast on Friday?
There's a trough coming out of the west with a low in the gulf. NWS Jackson is forecasting the possibility of light snow tomorrow night. The forecast area is from just north of the Louisiana line to north of Jackson.
Last snow here was in December of 2008.
Forecast low is 30F with the chance of precip at 80%.
EDIT: NWS Jackson.....this just up....."heavy snow criteria may be possible".
Soak the crow in buttermilk overnight....it won't taste as gamey!

Re: Possibility of snow on MS Gulf Coast on Friday?
Our local TV MET was just on this morning, she's saying this morning that the chance of seeing any frozen precipitation will be well N of the coast so I guess the models have changed since late yesterday when all of the TV METs at my station were saying snow here on Friday night, snow here on Friday night. One TV MET at FOX 10 in Mobile was saying about the same thing this morning, that chances of seeing snow in and around the Mobile area as of this morning's forecast are slim to none. So I guess my relatives just S of Jackson, MS might see some snow while I'll see lots of cold rain. My camera is ready just in case.

I'm going duck hunting in the MS Delta so I really hope it doesn't snow a bunch between there and here with me getting stuck up there.
That said, and I know this ain't the right place to say it, but don't put a lot of stock in what the forecast provides as far as amounts and locations. Over the years I've realized that forecasting winter weather must be very, very difficult here in the south and you may get your snow yet attalaman.
Enjoy it while I'm away!
