Patience Folks. Heavy snow bands are increasing across S TX N of Corpus and slowly progressing N as S/W approaches and lift increases. Radar trends show snow filling in just S of San Antonio NE into Bryan/College Station. Heavy snow bands are slowy moving N near Victoria along HWY 59. Activity will increase as the morning wears on IMHO.

Why is CC Tx colder than San Antonio by 2 degrees, we are at 38 and SA is at 40? We also have a steady rain.

Snow covering the ground in El Campo... Some reports of heavy snow..

The Radar is really responding to the lift moving in frow the west..

I hope that trend contiues...

For those talking about the radar returns near the coast... Galveston has reported heavy rain at times this morning... So it's not all sleet ...

You answered your own question. The rain takes heat from atmosphere to evaporate as it falls, cooling the air temp.

By the way, big flakes in SE Houston now at the office. No rain:

I know a dad who also got a call from Silsbee I.S.D. that they're letting out early as well, but it's not on here yet.

From KFDM:

The LC-M district is allowing students to leave one hour earlier than normal.

Grace School is dismissing students at 11:15 a.m.

Students in the East Chambers ISD will get out at 12:30 p.m.

Hardin ISD is ending classes at 1 p.m.

West Hardin ISD is also dismissing school at 1 p.m.

Students attending the Newton ISD will be released at 1 p.m. Classes in the Burkeville ISD will dismiss students at 1:30 p.m.

Barbers Hill students in grades 7 through 12 will be released at 11:30 a.m. Kindergarten through 6th graders will be allowed to go home at 12:30 p.m.

Judging by that picture, the sidewalks should have a coating of snow within the next 30 minutes or so. Definitely hazardous driving, be careful if y'all have to go out!

Now shucks, will we get something like that here in Biloxi later or just rain? That's a cool pic. Relatives from Cypress, TX called, no snow there, that was about an hour ago.

Another shot out the front of our building. Snow accumulation may already be 1/2" to an inch. Flakes are so huge they pile up fast:
