Intellicast radar presentation is pretty impressive. Virtually the entire state of Oklahoma is covered in some sort of precipitation, 3/4 of it in the frozen variety.

In Texas, snow appears to be on the increase down past Brownwood. And if I'm seeing things right, dry slot concerns seem to be waning - that slot looks to be punching into NE Texas and SW Arkansas at the moment.

Yup which is normal since the whole system is moving. I'm really liking how its building down into brownwood I didn't expect that heavy of stuff to be that far south

TexasStorm, are you looking at the NWS base reflectivity radar out of Fort Worth? IMO, the radar shot we see doesn't show snow very well. I've learned that from past winter weather events where NWS radar wasn't showing much and yet it was coming down where I was.

But when you look at Intellicast and other similar radar products, they show actual snow and frozen precip on their shots. You get an entirely different picture when you look at Intellicast's regional shot in motion.

Anxiety is causing people to focus on the west to east movement on radar rather than focusing on the north\south component.

Wonder if they're going to put up advisories for Waco from what it looks like as the radar builds to the south.

Absolutely.

And it seems to me that I've heard somewhere in the past that when it comes to Texas snow, it isn't so much of what we see to the west, it's the dynamics causing that.

In other words, what forms directly over us is probably more important in a storm than what we actually see coming.

I don't know how accurate that idea is however...

Folks near Waco and Killeen may need to keep an eye out this afternoon. Wrap around moisture is moving SE behind the low now. FYI, here in SE TX we just went from Sun to clouds. Very breezy as storm wraps up.

CBS 11 met still calling for 1-2 inches possibly locally heavier amounts from Dallas Fort Worth south. 5-6 inches Denton and north and west.

Much slower.

Yesterday, the winter storm warning for North Texas had an expiration time of 4 p.m. if memory serves correct.

Now, the blizzard warnings just north of the Red River on I-35 have an expiration time of 10 p.m.

And in this case, slow should mean good...if you like snowfall.
