Hurricane Alicia revisted (1983)

Someone brought up a good point about Hurricane Alicia. She formed along the extreme western end of a frontal boundary that extended off the New England Coast south-westward into the Gulf of Mexico. Alicia form in mid-August. Right now we have the same scenario taking place. More than likely we will have nothing come out of this but it's worth my 2 cents worth. There has been a good amount of convection flaring up along this boundary. How are the conditions in the GOM right now?

Conditions aren't very favorable in that area of the GOM right now.

There is a surface trough moving into the northern Gulf of Mexico, upper level wind shear isn't too high and water temperatures are in the middle 80's.

i know that trough well tom. it has brought us here on the ms coast some very stormy weather this week. i believe that florida caught heck from this trough too. it just did not want to go anywhere.
