It looks like it's trending towards a Low, a strong one bringing down a pocket of cold air with it. If that happens then precip, and the temp won't be of any concern it'd be snow. Also I don't want to hear the too warm to stick saying because if the weekend before in the teens aren't cold enough, then i don't know what is.

This is exactly where the GFS should be trending for the storm next week. The energy coming into the northwest has no where to go but down into the southern rockies/plains and cut off - due to blocking in Southern and SE Canada. This is one of the few ways you can get big snow storms in Texas. Watch closely for this one!!!

How come I'm not hearing this from anywhere else? How much validity is there to this for next week? Keep us informed.

It will be to warm to stick, there I said it. :cheesy:

You know what's funny is everytime people say that it sticks. It may not stick for long but what defines sticking? Most people from up north say this the most around the office.

Houston Chron has a 30% chance of snow for Friday.. I thought we had no chance for any precip on Friday.. Must be one of those random models they are pulling this crazy info from??? :froze:

I think when they say it won't stick usually it means the roadways, which in most cases is true. But the other surfaces usually an hour or two of snow and temps at or below freezing it will stick.

For north Texas or does the rest of Texas get in on the fun?

The magic line stretches down to the north Suburbs of Houston, then slides just a tad back north as the storm tightens up. I'd say there is a chance that southeast Texas gets on it, I'd say south Central might have a better chance then southeast though. It'll be close.

This is if the storm does verify.

:uarrow: There's been a lot of hints with this storm lately so it's not like it would be out of the blues fantasy storm. Now as we get closer models are slowly starting to fall into place. Give me a few more runs like this and I'll get out my snow machine!

Are you talking about the beginning of the week or more towards the end.. The reason I am asking is that my husband will be flying in from Mexico on Wednesday afternoon and he loves winter.. Would like for him to come home to some cold weather.

It'd be on Tuesday, and Wednesday according to the models, but again this is far out. But I do find it rather impressive someone noticed the pattern on here before the models, and the models latched on the same day. Looking like it might happen, let's just hope it doesn't go too far north so all of texas sees something.

C'mon, they've had three snow events and an NFC east championship. It's the Hill Country or southeast Texas turn.
Someone mentions the possibility of moisture after this extreme cold and my whole outlook on life improves, the depression lifts and I smile.
We are talking about next week, right?

It's suppose to snow the further north you go (though I agree very much so that everyone deserves it especially the Austin\San Antonio region). With cold air already been in place the chances are it could be fun for everyone. Yes, iorange stated Tues\Weds frame.

Edit: What's up with my rhymes this post jeesh, guess all this thought of a good storm is stirring me up!

Edit 2: Or maybe Portastorm's poem before bed rubbed off on me

That's funny because I almost answered his poem with a poem, but my better senses grabbed hold of me.
Maybe they need to create a weather poetry forum?
Here
I can see Wxman57 contributing to it already.
I hear you say you want fun and play
Snow come please, but it's just a tease
I look at my models and the different layers of air, just to dare
What I find looks nothing of the kind
Cold is there, and it's fair, but your prayers for snow will just have to go bye
