It is snow/sleeting where I am now, most of it did not reach the ground, you could hear the sleet/rain hit the trees high up, but only a few ice crystals fell onto cars. It is REAL cold outside though.

Re: Snow Flurries for Even South Florida This Weekend?
At 6:30, its sleeting at my house, south of DT Orlando. I heard it hitting the skylight and I knew it didn't sound like rain. Went out to get the paper and still couldn't see it (still dark here) but could hear it hitting the trees and shrubs, and when I came back in I felt a few pellets in my hair.

EXACT same thing for me, in the Oviedo are. I heard it hitting the trees but it didn't sound le ike rain, it was small ice pellets! I went to my car and when i used thw windshield wipers, it left ice on the side.
BTW. You should see some of the photos coming in from Ocala, its leaving a layer of white. Go to http://www.wesh.com

RUC forecast sounding for the Orlando area shows a very dry surface up to 1,500' into the atmosphere with a subfreezing layer around that height, then a saturated and above freezing layer between H95 and H85, thus why reports of mostly sleet reports and not snow just yet.
H85 has to get below freezing for an all snow event across central FL.

You think its possible for it to get that low? Sun is about to come up.

Re:
Come on snow. That'd be pretty cool, but hey even sleet here is pretty amazing, if that's all we get. It's still coming down, light but steady.NDG wrote:RUC forecast sounding for the Orlando area shows a very dry surface up to 1,500' into the atmosphere with a subfreezing layer around that height, then a saturated and above freezing layer between H95 and H85, thus why reports of mostly sleet reports and not snow just yet.

Arctic is in place and heights continue to fall, I am more afraid of the precip moving away before H85 gets subfreezing than anything else, maybe a few flakes before precip moves away from the Orlando area in a few hours, better chance of snow looks to be south of Orlando where precip seems to hold on longer.
