Re: 7.0 off Haiti!!!
There has been a lot of seismic activity in the Americas in the last few days: California, Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras and now Haiti. I read somewhere that January is one of the months with more earthquakes and the reason was one of those astronomical-geological theories, I'm kind of sckeptical to those kind of theories but it had some good arguments. My best wishes are with the people from Haiti and Dominican Republic.
By the way tomorrow is the 9th aniversary of one of the worst earthquakes in El Salvador.

Re: 7.0 off Haiti!!!
We have a member who is quite active in the chatroom (steagle), and he lives in the DR, and he left at the time of the quake according to those in the chatroom at the time. I'm quite worried about him, and the other many millions of people in the DR and in Haiti.

Tsunami Watch Cancelled
At least some good news in all of this.

Re: 7.0 off Haiti!!!
From what I garner, it struck onshore and not “off” Haiti. Mods, if this is correct, please change the thread’s title accordingly.
I hate to say it but the situation looks pretty grim. Brace for bad news over the coming days.

Re: 7.0 off Haiti!!!
yes, it should be changed. it was on or in Haiti, NOT off shore.
thankfully the tsunami watch has been canceled. and that's probably the last good news we will have.
Those poor people in Haiti. They do not need this.
