Snow cleanup and removal is reeking havoc on our City budget, already bleeding red ink. The City Council and School Board couldn't even meet due to the recent snow, and it's 2011 budget and 2010 tax setting time.

Is this an El-Nino effect for certain, or do many think the Mid-Atlantic was simply due for a winter season of snow?

Just heard local radio suggest residents have enough food for five days! Well, if it's that bad, we might loose electricity from snapping branches which tends to happen around here. Then we'll have a neighborhood winter-cookout.

Meteorologists are saying a foot of snow, and the area roads are beginning to show people driving with panic faces. The local food store was mobbed with horn-fights for parking spots.

I wish it would stay south of me, but it doesn't look like this will be.

Our city school system is announced closed for Friday February 5 as of 4:30 pm ET today.

Whew, kids remembered to bring home all their textbooks, notebooks, coats and gloves. Thanks for the reminder about charging our cell phones, somethingfunny. I'm not sure I would have recalled to do that.

I went after work, I usually go on Saturday, Superfresh was packed! They still had bread and milk but the eggs were going fast as well as the produce.

I don't know whom to believe, KYW is saying 6-12, other weather folk are saying 12-18, Ready-Notify PA is saying 12-18, sheesh, think I'll go with a foot just for Philly..already told my boss I won't be in Saturday but she wants me to try to come in Friday night, sigh.

I will be going to work in AC tomorrow, but my boss said we'll get out early.

I did get to the grocery store and it was packed. All of the cash registers were open but there were no baggers. By the time I left it seemed to have calmed down a bit. Bread, milk, etc. were all picked over. Everyone at work was discussing hit the store on the way home. We'll be comparing notes tomorrow.

I think a Blizzard is in the cards for sure. The Winds have really ramped up here along the Gulf Coast with gusts to 30mph this evening. I noticed they up and issued SCA and Gale Warnings offshore late today.

Yeah...back home in eastern NC, just the mention of snow in the forecast sends everyone and their brothers running for the stores. I remember one time, within like 15 minutes of the snow starting (it wasn't even sticking yet!) there were already 5 cars in the ditches.
