Hope you didn't think I was being exclusive of our neighbor city Baltimore, Lester. Certainly true that we're all in this together! 8-)

Baltimore, MD (1891-2000)
1 February 15-18, 2003 ... 28.2 inches
2 January 27-29, 1922 ... 26.5 inches
3 February 11-12, 1983 ... 22.8 inches
4 January 7-8, 1996 ... 22.5 inches
5 March 29-30, 1942 ... 22.0 inches
6 February 11-14, 1899 ... 21.4 inches
7 February 18-19, 1979 ... 20.0 inches
8 March 15-18, 1892 ... 16.0 inches
9 February 15-16, 1958 ... 15.5 inches
10 January 25, 2000 ... 14.9 inches
11 December 11-12, 1960 ... 14.1 inches
12 March 5-7, 1962 ... 13.0 inches
13 January 22, 1987 ...12.3 inches
14 January 30-31, 1966 ... 12.1 inches
15 February 16-18, 1900 ...12.0 inches

Addendum:
BWI: the storm of Dec. 18-19, 2009 broke a series of records at BWI.

The 20.5 inches on Dec. 19, 2009 broke the record for snow on any Dec. 19 since record-keeping began in 1883, and for any date in December. The old record was 11.5 inches, on Dec. 17, 1932.

The 20.5 inches on Dec. 19 also was the fifth-deepest snowfall on any calendar date in Baltimore.

The storm total of 21.1 inches at BWI for Dec. 18-19, 2009 was the 6th biggest two-day storm total on record for Baltimore, and the 7th-deepest accumulation for a storm of any length.

This storm will definitely be throwing it's weight around at the top 3 of the list! If the expected winds increase any more, would they have to issue a wind advisory? Or does the Blizzard warning count as the wind advisory?

I think the blizzard warning will be equivalent to the wind advisory

TWC Meteorologist Scott Williams is stationed in Atlantic City. He said that it just started to snow there and it just started here at home as well.

I was able to leave AC at 4:00 pm. I just wanted to get the heck out of there! People in operations and casino hosts that were scheduled to work were told to pack a bag. That's one benefit of working for a casino-hotel in inclement weather. When I walked through the casino corridor on my way out, there were quite a few people at the bars and slot machines. A bellman said that it seemed like there were more people checking in than checking out. I guess a lot figured that they were going to be here anyway and they get to experience a blizzard with room service!

I heard on TWC that there is now a blizzard warning up for Washington DC beginning 10 pm tonight. I wouldn't doubt that my county, just north of Atlantic County that is under a blizzard warning, would probably have one posted as well then. This is starting to look like a combo of the 1993 Superstorm and the Blizzard of 1996. God help us!

Will do srainhoutx!

It's exciting but a little frightening at the same time. I wonder if it is because there's been such advance notice that it's working on my nerves a bit. My hat's off to the NWS for giving us a good heads up on this one!

I just saw lightning outside my window. The really heavy snow hasn't started to fall quite yet.

Edit: Never mind, may have just been a street light blowing out.

They did say that there was a possibility of thunder and lightning at the height of the storm.

Welcome leaf_blower! I was trying to get webcams from Atlantic City, NJ and Cape May, NJ but either the view was fuzzy or they weren't available. Those two cities are within the blizzard warning along the New Jersey shore.

You may not get snow, but oh your country is so green and beautiful! :D

I thought I'd look around at the Outer Banks Area winds a little. At 44 degrees F, of course it's strictly rain for them. Here's a little data from a buoy off Virginia Beach. It will be interesting to see what happens windwise as the low advances. Here's a little knot to mph helper if your not nautical minded like myself:
