The Nino winter verified. Just under 1.5 inches yesterday. Mild ever since January's cold snap.

Over 2/3rds of an inch yesterday in front associated with mid-Atlantic blizzard.

Wet Nino winter. Pond is at year high in February which I've never seen before.

The upper pattern across noam will amplify significantly early next
week with another potential strong cold front moving across the region
Monday or Monday night. Another much colder airmass will move into
the region behind the front for the middle week period as strong surface high
pressure builds S to the western Gulf CST.

THAT'S FOR THE WEEK OF THE 15TH. COLDER THEN WHAT?

Yeap, looks like a fairly cold snap for next week here in FL, even colder than tonight's lows is a good possibility across interior parts of the Peninsula. But I do not see it as cold as early January's cold snap at this time.

Once again MOS forecasted lows for this morning were too low in the FL Peninsula, I am glad that MLB used some common sense because of forecasted winds staying up & did not put up freeze warnings from Orlando south, heck not even the colder spots north of Orlando got to freezing.

Wow. Talk about a complete turn around. No more cold next week.

A weak front may actually move across the local area
Monday night or Tuesday morning however...not significant impact
to the local area is expected as it seems it will lack upper level
support and most of the energy will remain well north. Will indicate
only a slight chance of precipitation through this period with temperatures
remaining near seasonal values.

I am surprised that this thread is dead because there is plenty of rain in the state.

IT WAS AMAZING!!! WOW. That line of storms rocked South Florida to the ground. The wind must have been above 40 mph. The power was out for about 3 to 4 minutes. It looked just like a squall line from a tropical cyclone but you can feel the diference now, it's a lot cooler!

That squall line was strong but *very* short-lived, it sped through quickly. If you blinked, you probably missed it.

Still, it was fun to get a little thunder and lightning in February; that doesn't always happen. And the changing weather today was amazing, from a chilly morning to the wind hauling around out of the south making it warm and wet, to turning chilly again right now.

Looks like a more "ordinary" seasonal period of chill for the first part of the week for S. FL - chilly mornings but very pleasant during the day.

NWS Tampa Bay Discussion discusses possible pattern change beginning Thursday of the upcoming week...could this be the signal that we are beginning the transition from winter into spring....climatology is soon going to not be on the side of cold fronts like we are seeing this weekend....only once in the last 4 March's has Miami dipped below 50 deg for a low temp (3/3/09 low of 47 deg, no other lows below 50 deg in March 2006, 2007, 2008).

Per NWS Tampa Bay:

.LONG TERM (TUESDAY NIGHT - SATURDAY)...THE ENTIRE EXTENDED FORECAST
WILL BE DOMINATED BY A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE
THAT STARTS OFF OVER
TEXAS TUESDAY NIGHT AND MOVES VERY SLOWLY EASTWARD TO THE NORTHERN
GULF COAST ON THURSDAY THEN OVER THE FLORIDA PENINSULA ON SATURDAY.
THIS IS A HUGE CHANGE FROM THE FAST MOVING WEATHER SYSTEMS IN THE
ACTIVE SOUTHERN STREAM WE HAVE HAD OVER THE LAST MONTH OR SO.

A SLOW WARMING TREND BEGINS ON THURSDAY WHEN MOST PLACES REACH OR
BEAT 60 DEGREES AND EVEN APPROACH 70 FAR SOUTHWEST. IT WILL REMAIN
QUITE DRY...AND RADIATIONAL COOLING COULD AGAIN LEAD TO TEMPERATURES
IN THE 30S THURSDAY NIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL REBOUND QUICKLY ON
FRIDAY...CLIMBING THROUGH THE 60S AND PROBABLY REACHING THE LOWER
70S AROUND FORT MYERS.

BY SATURDAY...TEMPERATURES COULD APPROACH NORMAL LEVELS FOR A CHANGE
WITH HIGHS NEAR 70 NORTH...LOWER 70S CENTRAL AND EVEN SOME MID 70S
SOUTH.

Seasonal? I love the way they always seem to go with climatology on their long range forecast even though models have been indicating a fairly cold snap for this time of the year for next week. South FL will be lucky if you are able to climb into the 60s the middle part of the week.

Not sure who 'they' is a reference to....but NWS Miami isn't going with climatology for the upcoming week's forecast. Actually they are not too far away from the temps you suggest...forecast is for warmer temps (low to mid 70s) on Monday....than another cold front will move through....but current forecast is for the front not to be as strong as this past one was.... highs in 65-70 deg range mid-week.

It is towards the end of the week that the forecast highs are back in the low 70s...but not approaching seasonable readings until next weekend (mid to high 70s).

From latest NWS Miami:

UPPER LEVEL CLOUDINESS IS AIDING IN
KEEPING MUCH OF THE NORTHWEST AREAS A BIT WARMER THAN EARLIER
EXPECTED. MONDAY MORNING LOOKS TO BE A SLIGHTLY WARMER NIGHT
ESPECIALLY OVER THE EAST COAST. THE AIR BEHIND THE NEXT FRONT WILL
NOT BE AS COLD AS THIS LAST FRONT BUT NEVERTHELESS THE MIN TEMPS
WILL GET DOWN TO THE UPPER 30S NORTHWEST TO THE UPPER 40S
SOUTHEAST WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MORNINGS. ONLY EXPECTING 20 PERCENT
POPS WITH THIS NEXT FRONT MAINLY LATER MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT. A
GRADUAL WARM UP IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE LATER PART OF THE WEEK.

I was referring to that the NWS offices usually go with climatology in their long range forecasts, just 3 days ago Miami NWS office was calling for seasonal temps in their long range forecast for mid next week, when models were already indicating a fairly strong shot of cold air for this time of the year next week.

.SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...DRY AND COOL CONDITIONS SHOULD BE
EXPECTED. ACTUALLY, ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT DROP IN TEMPS SUNDAY
MORNING AFTER THE LOW/FRONT MENTIONED ABOVE MOVES SE OF S.
FLORIDA.
WL INDICATE
ONLY A SLIGHT CHANCE OF PRECIP THROUGH THIS PERIOD WITH TEMPS
REMAINING NEAR SEASONAL VALUES
