I like how they leave the chance in the discussion that this still might be an all rain event.

EDIT: some ppl may be saying what the heck with the nw tx area... iam putting that in per the 00z nam, signs of a 2nd possible pocket of a snow band trying
to form late tomm in the vernon, sps areas.... but i would expect the very heavy snow to be down near the metroplex region...

This is what I have been waiting for....thank you thank you thank you!!! Your the best!! :froze:

And also that they may have to upgrade to a Winter Storm Warning. Almost the full spectrum of possibilities.

Yeah it's 38 in DT FTW with a DP of 21, so a over night low around 29-30 is most likely, this will ad in the early start of frz precip across the DFW area before sunrise. It should also hold temps very close to 32 for much if not all day Thursday before dropping back into the upper 20's Thursday night. If that happens then 4 to 6" would be very likely and cause travel problems by late afternoon, and make Friday morning a living hell for drivers across all of DFW.

Here is a forecast for Marshall (I-20 East Texas).

Tonight: Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: New snow and sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.

Thursday Night: New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

So right now the current forecast is .5 + 1 + 3 = ~5 inches!! Here's an image from the NWS SHV. Sorry if it's already posted.

Until they see the snow falling\fallen (usually by 5 or 6 am) that's when they'll most likely close\delay classes.

Dallas will not cancel no matter what. They are known for not calling off classes because of weather.

I do too, probably the most nessesary day for a closing would be Friday though.

And yeah, I like that they metioned it but, I beileve they will have to upgrade it to a Winter Storm Warning for 3-6" Snow Totals.

Closing early puts parents under pressure to make arrangements to have the kids picked up, or to pick them up themselves. I guess we'll see how the weather develops tonight as to whether some start to make the call in the morning.

Richardson ISD is already off on Friday for a Student Holiday-Staff Development day. My wife teaches there, because my guess is they would cancel Friday's staff development day and not have to make it up since state funding is not at stake. Best of all worlds for us.
