Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
Surface temps in Dallas are 3F colder than yesterday's 12Z GFS predicted (32 vs. 35 predicted). That's all it takes for lots of snow to stick. Have fun up there. I doubt that the kids in school will be able to concentrate on anything today.

I've gotten a good inch more than the Christmas storm. I think just a bit over 3 inches now, maybe 3.5.

Currently snowing light here in Marshall. Nothing is sticking, but it's my first time seeing snow this year.

Yet again I'm missing another DFW snow event!!! I can't believe this. I've been out of town for every one or them. Is there another event on the horizon... say after Saturday?

Lol, don't you storm2kers love it when we are the right ones? We should open up our on forecasting website.
We just got lucky, probably.

Sun is up, good for more pictures and video! Woo. And there was a big light going off a few days ago that this would be a significant event. The pattern was ripe for it.

That and snow falling at night with no solar insolation---lucky dogs.

A couple meteograms comparing yesterday's 12Z GFS to last night's 06Z run. 6Z run is colder for Dallas area today (33F vs 35-36F). Going to be a wet snow all day. Latest gfs indicates about 0.6" liquid precip. With about a 6:1 ratio, that could mean 3-5 inches. But how much will pile up on the ground? That's a hard one. Temps will hover near (maybe slightly above freezing).

We are in the middle of a heavy snow burst -- started out with HUGE flakes but flakes are smaller now and visibility is far worse.

Another band of heavy snow is about to make it's way into the metroplex.
Check out 12z NAM.

Over and inch of Precip. Maybe someone has a chance to break the 10 inch mark lol.

We got VERY lucky, but yeah I'm feeling very smug and calling all my friends to say "who called it??!"

2" on the ground measured by ruler, still snowing lightly. All the schools are open.

Can some of you post some clear (non-fuzzy) pics of the snow? Cell phones don't work well for detailed in-focus shots.
