I see one storm after another with colder and colder air coming down. Our (Houston) snow chances may be increasing the next few weeks. It just takes the right timing of a passing disturbance with cold air overhead. I don't see any events in the latest model runs, just very cold air. 10-day Euro has cross-Polar flow that dips all the way down to the Gulf! So don't put away those winter coats just yet.
Note: It pained me to say that...
Signs of the Apocalypse:
1) Increasing amounts of earthquakes (check)
2) New Orleans Saints Win Super Bowl (check)
3) Wxman57 predicts more winter weather for Texas (check)

My neighbor from L.A. is outside looking around like meatballs are falling from the sky.

The Norman National Weather Service page just turned red and the wording was enhanced. It looks like a winter storm warning is about to be issued for their NW Texas (including Wichita Falls) and southern Oklahoma counties.
Edit: A winter storm warning has been issued according to this..

Weather Synopsis...Snow...heavy at times...will spread across southern Oklahoma and North Texas today. A winter storm warning is in effect for snowfall totals of 5 to 8 inches. Road conditions will deteriorate through the day. Further north...snow will be light. Little or now snow is expected in northern Oklahoma.

I just checked the company car and took a quick measurement from center of roof and it's 3.25". Here in DT FTW all bridges are snow packed and highways are VERY slushy.

Tom Hale (KRLD) just said he wouldn't be shocked if there was 8" in downtown Dallas by the time we're done.

Ok, question now becomes...will anybody get double digit snow amounts out of this?
10 inches...or more? And is a foot of snow (seems like one model run predicted something like that a few days ago!
), is that a real possibility somewhere in N. Texas?
Here in Grayson County, we're closing in on an inch in the northern half (snow didn't start falling until about 8:20 a.m.). Southern part of the county has much more (started a couple of hours ago). Coming down at a good clip with huge flakes.
Still no road problems where I'm at...for now.

I got the measuring tape out. There is 3 inches on the grass, and about 5 inches on my car.

I got 4.5-5 on our backyard patio table.
A lot of the roads that don't have cars frequently traveling through have a coating in these heavier bands.

Since we're not pros at this task down here in Texas, I dug this up on accurately measuring snowfall:
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/iln/spotterpage ... owfall.htm
Here's the key point:
Summary:
"The optimal conditions for measuring snow are to find a piece of wood (wooden picnic table or piece of ply-wood) in an open area where snow will fall unhindered and yet not drift from blustery winds. After measuring the snow, clean off the piece of wood for your next reading."

CBS had a clicker thing for points around DFW. Almost every location has estimated 3-4 so far. Ahead of schedule as to what I was thinking.
