Don't look now but a good batch is about to move over the southern 1/2 of the metroplex. Starting to pick up here in Arlington. Very dry, fluffy flakes.

Everyone is getting in on the fun today.

Really coming down in Waco right now. Radar looks like we're about to see a break for a while though

That is actually very very close to where I live. My teenager texted me from school about the "gigantic snowflakes." LOL.

Well we're getting some heavy small snowflakes. It's pretty to look at, at least.

The radar is showing heavy snow returns over I-20 and extending up I-30 towards Mesquite and Garland, but I don't see anything outside. Maybe it's not reaching the ground? I'm so close to the edge of the snowfall area as it is, it would be torture if I was in a virga region all day. :double:

Dewpoints in North Texas are very low falling to the mid and low 20s that's why the cut off to the snow is so sharp with cold dry air to the north. The snow that does fall isn't big flakes because there is low moisture content. Anyone who does gets snow (under extremely heavy bands) it's similar to the type of snow over Christmas otherwise yeah it's virga :(

Yeah - this stuff here in Midlothian is really powdery. :) -- But it's coming down at a moderate clip as visibility is reduced to about a half mile or so.

SATELLITE ANALYSIS AND TRENDS...BIG PICTURE SHOWED BIG RIDGE WEST COAST
BEGINNING TO GIVE GROUND BUT HAVING DOWNSTREAM AFFECTS IN FORCING
WESTERN NEW MEXICO VORT SOUTH WITH HELP OF POLAR JET OF NEAR 85KTS
CENTERED ON AZ AS PER SATELLITE WINDS. AS THIS VORT GETS CLOSER TO
SUBTROPICAL JET NOW FROM CENTRAL OLD MEXICO INTO THE GULF...VORT LOBE WILL
TURN MORE SE AND THEN LATER EAST. OF IMMEDIATE CONCERN WAS COMMA TAIL
CLOUD BAND JUST AHEAD OF VORT THAT HAD DYNAMICS FOR PRODUCING SNOW BUT
LESS MOISTURE THAN FURTHER EAST. MOSTLY LIGHT SNOW HERE BUT THERE COULD
BE STEADIER SNOW AS BAND MOVES INTO CENTRAL WHERE BETTER MOISTURE AND
DYNAMICS CLASH. OUT AHEAD OF COMMA TAIL BAND WERE TWO BAROCLINIC LEAFS.
ONE INTERIOR NW ACROSS N TX...THE OTHER FURTHER SOUTH ACROSS CENTRAL TO
INTERIOR E CENTRAL TX. ALWAYS TRICKY TO DELINEATE SNOW FROM ICE AND SLEET
AND RAIN AS COLDER AIR COMING IN ALOFT AND MOISTURE DEEPNING IN PLACE

DECREASES SUBSTANTIALLY FROM THE WEST (THINKING SOUTH OF DALLAS AREA).
BEST SNOW AREA OF IMMEDIATE CONCERN SEEMS TO BE CENTERED FROM CROCKETT TO
COKE COUNTY AND MOVING EAST AND RUNNELS TO BROWN TO COMMANCHE COUNTY AND
THIS AN AREA OF CONCERN AS WESTERN SNOW BAND COMES ACROSS THESE AREAS
AS WELL LATER ON. AREAS JUST SOUTH FT WORTH-DALLAS METROPLEX WILL BE
ON NORTHERN FRINGES OF THIS STEADY SNOW AT LEAST THRU THIS MORNING BUT
COULD BE EDGING NORTH TOWARD THE SOUTHERN PORTION. WILL CONTINUE TO
MONITOR...SEE SATELLITE ANALYSIS GRAPHIC ON HOME PAGE AT ADDRESS BELOW...

I'm in Athens about 40 miles sw of Tyler, and it's been snowing here for the last hour. Hasn't started in Tyler according to one of my co-workers. Hopefully we can get a little accumulation this evening.
