We had about .5 on the ground in Southlake at 730 am but now it's melted. Dad out at Alliance FTW airport said it just now started snowing hard there. From the looks of radar, DFW airport had a lull of a few hours but in about an hour..here comes the most of it.

absolutely. With the graph someone just posted putting the Low still deep in west texas, as it moves closer towards the gulf, it will deepen. Thats my opinion. As long as the precip keeps falling your temp should stay down till more bands really gain strength.
Houston you arent out of the woods yet. There is cold air above you, just need some precip to help bring the temps down. I think NW Houston gets a dusting on grassy surfaces. SW Houston, like in SL, will see flakes but no significant accumulation late tonight.
Right now heavy sleet is back (Nacogdoches). I can hear it on my window "pinging" away
Don't forget the early disturbances are ringing out the moisture before the ULL arrives. Everything is basically going as the models predicted.
ringing out atmosphere enough to not allow for the Low to deepen and fill in the radar?
It could, no one knows for sure, but interpreting what the models depict (as it's going as planned) you'll get more wind if it is deepening more than expected. Places that haven't seen much may be able to ring out a bit of moisture with it.

Like others have said.. DFW is struggling with virga.. but someone just posted that their dad is in FTW and is seeing some good snow, so thats a good sign.. maybe that dry air is getting a little more saturated.

The snowflakes are a tad bigger here in south dallas. The bushes look really nice. Just enough snow to coat them, but not weigh them down like the last storm.

The RUC has the southern end dissipating (I think that's the band you are talking about out near Del Rio), but if it's wrong and the band hold together then yeah.

Alot of dry air just SW of Texas. The Low may be pulling a bit of that in, making me kind of nervous

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
From Jeff Lindner:
Heavy snow falling along I-35 from N of San Antonio to Waco moving eastward toward SE TX. Webcams show great big flakes (around the size of a half dollar) leading to quick accumulations in the heavy bursts. Heavy sleet was reported the last hour in College Station and Hearne, TX had about 1.5” on the ground of snow.
Slowly but surely the RA/SN line is marching SE and will enter into our NW counties shortly. Convective looking radar out of C TX supports very heavy snowfall rates of 1-2” per hour with quick accumulations even with surface temperatures above freezing as noted thus far along I-35 with visibilities dropping below .25 of a mile in very heavy snow. Radar SW of HOU shows increasing echoes which will help start cooling the lower air column. May see some IP/RA mix over the metro area this afternoon and then the change to SN/RA mix late afternoon/early evening.
Will not mess with accumulations at this time as the event is unfolding, although overall totals will be hard to determine as much will melt on impact and between the heavy snow bursts. Will let the previous accumulations go forward…a lot of us will see snow, but many will not see much on the ground…if only for a short while.
Still looking like there could be issues early Wednesday morning as the freezing line get deeper into the area and meltwater begins to freeze into a glaze on area bridges/overpasses. Not sure exactly where the 32F line will end up…but current indications place it from just N of Wharton to Katy to Kingwood to Liberty…north of that will likely see any water freeze up.

IIRC you live in the dfw area. If that is correct then the answer is no. Other posts in this thread are talking about this weekend and next week for snow in your area.

Re: Texas winter wx thread (2009-2010)
We are getting a real good snowburst right now in Midlothian -- big big snowflakes with the little ones. Starting to slush up the sidewalks and street now.
Got about 1.5 inches in the open areas of grass.
