Yes he specifically said Fort Worth -.- lol. all joking aside, surface temps are too warm, personally I think at best maybe some flakes with the late wrap around Monday night when the ULL is right overhead.

Edit: February looks to be the warmest on record globally, hard to tell here in Texas huh? Looks like all the blocking and nino going on it's all relative to where you are in the world.

I have to echo Steve's thanks also!! This has been a very different winter for many of us and without the input from our pros we wouldn't have been as prepared as we have been and certainly would not have learned as much as we have been able to. That thanks is also extended to all of our amateur forecasters who have helped keep us all abreast of the Winter weather this season.

I sure hope you are right that we can now head back to the USA and Tropical Weather forums Wxman!!

Well, as far as southern Texas and winter weather, we should be in the clear. Maybe a little snow in NE TX Monday, but no big deal.

Well, I'm not giving up on winter - hoping for one last hurrah here in the Red River Valley before our annual march to Death Valley weather.

With the kind of winter we've had so far and CPC long range ideas for March of more above normal precip and below normal temps, don't bury this thread just yet!

Those patches of 1" accumulations across Texas on Monday look "fishy" if you look at the soundings for those areas. Lower level is too warm for accumulations, and maybe too warm for snow south of the Red River much.

Sounding data is too warm from the GFS to support snow in East TX...have no clue why the GFS showing accumulation when below 1500 feet it is above freezing...we will see. This is the time of year when you don't use 540 thickness for snow.

With thickness down that low and if you get heavy precip rates, then you might see some accumulations. They won't stick around long but there should be flakes in the air. I still am not sure why the Fort Worth office doesn't mention this possibility.

Right, be suspicious of those green patches of 1" accumulations. Lower levels (1000-2000ft) are forecast to be well above freezing. With warm air that deep, a cold rain is most likely. It's not that the temps are too warm for snow to accumulate, it will probably melt long before reaching the ground.

Yea we will see...sounding data is nearly dry adiabatic, it will be interesting to see how much melting/evaporation can cool the lowest levels...but I doubt they will see much if anything.

Rain/Snow mix is finally put in the forecast across North Texas for tomorrow. I think we'll see some accumulations on rooftops and grassy surfaces but nothing sticking to the roadways.

Well, this being the last day of February and the long-range models strongly suggesting warmer temps are soon to come to central and south Texas, I will be signing off the great Winter Weather Forum. I will probably post per severe weather in my area during spring/summer and during tropical season I'm mainly a lurker.

It has been a wild winter season as we all know and there's been a lot of drama, excitement, and great dialogue! For you North Texans, you had the great DFW Snowmageddon and several near misses. I had the brief but enjoyable Blizzard of AUS ... and Houston had its early December historic snowfall. San Angelo and Waco got in on the action as did Bryan/College Station. And of course, Amarillo and the Panhandle had their usual winter fun!

We've gained a lot of new, smart folks and I hope you'll come back next winter season and keep making S2K the wonderful weather forum that I believe it is. I'll probably post in September with some thoughts on the upcoming winter based on atmospheric signals that are showing up.

And, of course, last but certainly not least I want to shout out a big THANK YOU to our outstanding pro mets who kept our enthusiasm in check with meteorological reality. We learn so much from you and I thank you for your patience with me and others. It's like watching a baseball game together with Derek Jeter and Roy Oswalt in your living room!
