That is pretty Brent, if I didn't have to be at work I would be up there too.

I went up there this morning and took some pics that can be found here

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 929&ref=nf

Think this is my favorite one, the roads were snow covered at the top(I actually stopped short of the gate because I was afraid I'd get stuck up there)

Not much of anything here(few rouge flakes), really was an elevation snowstorm in Alabama. Even up near the mountain you didn't see significant accumulation til you got above 1,500 feet(though it was snowing heavily lower, but the warm ground prevented accumulations)

I woke up to a surprise this morning. After temps around 70 yesterday and rain last night, we now have snow flurries falling! :cold:
This global warming is freezing me to death :P

No snow here, partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with a current temperature of 45F. Did you receive enough snow to accumulate or did it melt as soon as it hit the ground? I missed out on the snow this season.

ALLOWING LIGHT RAIN TO BECOME MIXED WITH SNOW AS EARLY 7 PM ACROSS
WEST ALABAMA. THE RAIN AND SNOW MIXTURE WILL SPREAD EASTWARD

My uncle in Magee, MS located south of Jackson told me tonight he had some snow this morning, not much though. The temperature here tonight under mostly cloudy skies is 44F but those strong winds in the 20 to 30 mph range with possible higher gusts never made it here today.

The wind was brutal here today. Started around 10pm last night and finally abated. Anywhere from 15mph to 22mph with gusts up to 32mph. You're lucky you didn't get those winds.

We had no accumulations yesterday morning. We also had flurries yesterday afternoon around 4 PM and again from around 8:00 until I went to bed at midnight, but nothing accumulated. It was interesting to see snow this time of year, especially after having been at 70 Saturday. I even got sunburned on my face while sitting at my son's high school baseball games (they played 2), even though the sun was behind clouds more than it was out. Personally, I'm ready for some warm weather. This winter has been too long and too cold for my old bones! :P

By the way, I'm going to be working in Magee. I'm a little over 20 miles south of Magee.

I asked the uncle last night where Seminary was located, his response was between Magee and Hattiesburg. If you don't mind me asking what kind of work will you be doing in Magee? The reason I ask is because I've been to Magee a few years ago and it's like Collins, MS, there's not much there. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing some snow yesterday. Today under cloudy skies the current temperature is 42F with no wind. Those strong winds never made it to Biloxi unless they're still headed this way.

Yeah, I was up in Mendenhall over the weekend. We left around 4 p.m. and there were very light localized flurries. Temp never got above 38 the entire day.

Well that strong wind that everyone has been talking about has finally made it to Biloxi. Currently under clear skies the temperature is 56F with winds out of the WSW at 18, gusting to 32.

That time of year when we look at the GFS for signs of snow in the Deep South instead of tropical weather.

Nothing imminent, but some subtle signs that parts of the deep south may see some snow.

I'll be watching the models closely as well to see if the cold outbreak occurs as we get to the end of the month. The latest long range GFS which Ivanhater posted above looks very impressive (1038 mb High dropping down from Canada). That would definitely bring the first significant freeze event to NE Florida and most of the SE US should that run verify.

With the La Nina pattern, arctic air intrusions into the Deep South will be very few and far between this upcoming season.

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!

Fortunately the 6Z gfs looks a bit more zonal and quite a bit warmer-excellent news all around.
