This video is very interesting, you can see the sea water entering in Dichato a location in the coast of Chile, there are serious floods because of the tsunami.

:uarrow: That link doesn't work, but according to CNN, those 279 are people that have been identified although there are hundreds of dead bodies unidentified: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/03/04/chile.earthquake/index.html?hpt=Sbin

Anyone know what "normal" is, as far as aftershocks for such a magnitude and depth? I guess it depends on topography/geography/geology of the region, plate structure, and recent past stress release?

For an erthquake of this magnitude, the aftershock sequence seems fairly normal.

Jeez....I'm glad they're still survivors! Still, that's kind of like moving from Haiti to South Florida to escape hurricanes.

Do you know the number of aftershocks above M5.0 since the quake?

Chile quake moves city more than 10 feet

*snip*CNN) -- The magnitude-8.8 earthquake that rocked the west coast of Chile last month was violent enough to move the city of Concepcion at least 10 feet to the west and the capital, Santiago, about 11 inches to the west-southwest, researchers said.
