* PERIODS OF RAIN WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE AREA INTO SUNDAY
MORNING. THE HEAVIEST RAIN IS ANTICIPATED TO OCCUR STARTING
LATE TONIGHT AND ESPECIALLY DURING SATURDAY.

* WIDESPREAD TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE
ANTICIPATED WITH THIS STORM... WITH LOCALLY AROUND 5 INCHES
POSSIBLE. HIGHEST STORM TOTAL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED IN NEW
JERSEY.

BANDS OF HEAVY RAIN WILL AFFECT THE FLOOD WATCH AREA TODAY. THIS
BANDS WILL LIFT SLOWLY FROM SOUTH TO NORTH AND EXIT NORTHERN NEW
JERSEY AND PENNSYLVANIA LAST TONIGHT. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE REGION THAT WOULD ALSO
PRODUCE LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS OF RAIN.

GIVEN THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN... THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR AREAS OF
DANGEROUS FLOODING TO DEVELOP OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. SMALL
STREAMS AND POSSIBLY MAIN STEM RIVERS WILL REACH FLOOD STAGE.
SMALLER STREAMS WILL RESPOND FIRST TO THE RAINFALL FOLLOWED BY
THE LARGER RIVERS. FLOODING COULD BEGIN TOWARD DAYBREAK SATURDAY
ALONG FAST RESPONDING CREEKS... WHILE THE LARGER... SLOWER
RESPONDING RIVERS COULD SEE FLOODING PERSIST INTO EARLY NEXT
WEEK. IN ADDITION... THESE RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL CAUSE AREAS OF
FLOODING ON ROADWAYS AND POOR DRAINAGE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.

I currently have a little pond in my backyard in the area where precipitation normally backs up. We've had some pretty good wind gusts and the rain just keeps coming down. We're expecting a total of up to 4 inches of rain. THANK GOD it's not snow or we'd be close to about 40 inches of the white stuff.

My power went out at 4PM Saturday and came back on 1AM this morning! Wow, did it pour here! I believe Blue Bell got over 3 inches of rain last I heard and it is STILL raining here! Made it to NJ and did see a yards that are nothing but ponds right now!

Can't wait to see what the ride home is going to be like as I am taking rt 29 and I haven't heard anything about that being closed...yet, sigh.

My father in law lives in Freehold NJ and his basement was flooded out first time ever. He lost 2 computers and a tredmill.Now he has to deal with his insurance company.

I wish him a lot of luck! Does he have flood insurance? If he doesn't, I don't think that he will be covered.

Oh New Jersey and your easily flooded basements...when I was eleven, I lost my Nintendo 64 to a few inches of Floyd-related flooding in our basement.

Here in Texas they don't even build basements because the water table makes that impossible to keep dry even in normal conditions. I guess that's a blessing in disguise, not having to worry about it flooding.

I personally don't have an issue with water in my basement. I do have a hole for a sump pump but we don't have one. The way the house sits in the neighborhood, everything drains around the house on the way down to a creek behind our court. The neighborhood is on a steady gentle slope that goes down to that creek. The creek really isn't that big. There are definitely areas in the area that have problems with flooding and have no business having homes bulit with basements. However, builders don't really care about that.

I'm glad that he does have the insurance at any rate. He knows he could have a flood and it probably could be much worse. I know that doesn't help him out now though.

And we're supposed to have possible frost and/or freeze in SE TX?? Last high forecast I saw for Sunday was 62F. Enjoy it Stephanie. We usually send this stuff East as fast as we can.

We SOOOOOOO deserve this weather after the winter we just went through.

On a serious note, I was horrified by the sight of Atlantic City's beach or what little was left of it today. The remaining dunes in front of the Boardwalk is gone. The black rubber pillow that helps to create the dune is exposed and flattened. PIPE that was buried under the sand is totally exposed. Any other storm now has free access to the other side of the Boardwalk as in the casinos. Our industry's busiest season is from May until September because of the combination of the beach and the casinos. Now we have no beach.

As I said earlier, GOD FORBID we have a hurricane hit us. It's almost like NJ's shore line is being set up for the perfect storm to wipe the slate clean. The State is cutting funding to everything due a huge deficit and we do spend millions on beach replenishment every year. We keep trying to keep our shoreline the same, but Mother Nature has other plans.

I really do enjoy this cooler weather because it will be 90°F with an 80% humidity come May 15th thru Oct.

I like that weather too.I'm coming to NJ April 15th thru the 18th for a family function.I hope its at least 70°F for that weekend.
