Interesting that you brought that up CM. I saw my first today as well. :D

It is now down to 44.5f and raining here in W. Houston. I'm starting to wonder just how low we will go. Could Cosgrove be right? If the wrap around is strong enough I guess anything is possible. I guess we'll be in the Winter forum for a few days more. So much for Spring starting tomorrow! :cold: :cold:

The weather was very nice here yesterday and it's also been nice here today. Under partly cloudy skies the temperature is 68F but our local TV MET said last night that winter will return here on Sunday night. This spring like weather has been very nice, my azaleas and daffodils are starting to bloom and tree pollen is everywhere. I've had it with winter, bring on spring but I certainly hope that this years tropical season remains very quiet.

My sentiments exactly!! Unfortunately the signs are pointing to a somewhat active Hurricane season. We are now down to 41.4f with gusts to 37 mph. It is raw outside!!

Woke up to clear skies and 34f this morning with a light breeze as opposed to the howling wind we had last night. If the winds pick back up like forecasted it will still be raw for those out in it today. Ended up with 0.70" of rain for this event. Now hopefully we can move back to the regular weather thread.

The sun is beginning to break through the clouds here now, currently with winds out of the west at 9 the temperature is 45F. Will my area get those strong winds you're talking about? I spoke to relatives in Cypress, Texas last night and they said the winds were blowing strong. I did receive a lot of rain here last night.

Snow being reported in parts of SW Louisiana at this moment. Not sticking - a bit too warm. Flakes are about the size of dimes.

What parts saw snow today labreeze?

The wind was brutal today. Started around 10pm last night and finally abated. Anywhere from 15mph to 22mph with gusts up to 32mph.

I am floored!!! Both of my Hibiscus plants are now putting out leaves from the very bottom where they meet the ground. I thought they were totally toast after this winter. *vbhoutex thumbs his nose at winter* :moon2: Well that isn't my nose, but you get the picture.

That patience paid off vbhoutex. Amazing to see the return of my pigmy date palm and other plants that I thought would never come back. It certainly helped to have some badly needed rainfall last weekend as well.

Models appear to be latching onto a very cold, probably freezing or below, weekend for almost all of TX and definitely SE TX for the 20th and 21st. It will be interesting to see if it holds or if it is just fantasy.

Yeah David, long range ensembles started sniffing the pattern change out last week. Run after run of the OP GFS and even the longer range Euro suggests there may well be something to it. Brrr... :cold:

Time to head south for the winter... ;-)

Fortunately, a strong La Nina means we're likely to see quite a different winter here in SE TX than we saw in 2009-2010. Much warmer and drier, most likely. My kind of winter. Could get a bit cool in the next few weeks, though.

The pre Thanksgiving Arctic Front is still showing up via guidance and now HGX is mentioning it as well... :cold:...get ready, wxman57... :cheesy:

THE FAR EXTENDED HAS A MORE ARCTIC-
IN-ORIGIN AIR MASS DIVING SOUTH-SOUTHEAST INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS
...SIGNALING THAT THE NEXT COLD FRONT COULD HAVE MORE OF A PUNCH
THAN RECENT MORE-PASSIVE FROPAS.

I've been enjoying the warmer winter although we could use alot more precip (for my garden). My only regret is that we need the freezes and colder temps to eliminate some of these pests. I know Entergy has been suffering from depression this month because I've not used my central air or heat at all this month.
