Re: SE TX/SW LA weather:Is Spring here? NOT YET!!
Radar shows a strong line of storms moving in from the West. Should be here in W. Houston by 10:30 am which would be a few hours earlier than expected originally. The apparent strength and arrival time of the storms makes me think this system makes me think that it is coming in further South and stronger than progged. See a few possible hail cores in the storms approaching but if they are they will be brief as the intense portion of the line is very thin and doesn't seem to be expanding. We have a wind warning up for this afternoon and tomorrow so it is going to be raw after fropa. May have to go back to the winter thread for a few days.

Should be here in a few minutes David. The UL is a bit further S and has trended that way the past several model runs. See everyone in the Winter Weather Topic.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather:Is Spring here? NOT YET!!
So far we've had a brief heavy shower with some wind and that is it. Now just light rain. wondering if that is going to be it. We really could use a little more rain. Temp has dropped 8 degrees since fropa at 10:25. Now 52F and still falling. Guess we'll head to the Winter thread next.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather:Is Spring here? NOT YET!!
I think the upside theory is in affect. Parts of NJ are in the 70's, while SE Texas is having temps fall thru the 50's. Here in S FL the high is 77°F.

We're having our second round of rain now. Looks like it will last a while so we may make the 1" mark before it is over, which is fine. Down to 49.9f and dropping. Not going to be nice anymore today.

srainhoutx wrote::uarrow: Just went over the 1 inch mark regarding rainfall. It certainly has helped with the pollen that has been covering everything. Temps now in the upper 40's. Latest RUC suggests that the Upper Low will stall and become a bit stronger. Just wonder how far S some of the flurries will make it.
Almost to the one inch mark here too. With the above in mind and the fact it is now 42f at my house I am wondering too. I was not expecting the temps to drop almost all the way through the 40's till much later. If the winds kick up like expected we probably won't make it to freezing, but...??? So much for Spring!

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather:Spring, is that you?
It poured at the house around 3-4 AM-ish. And I mean it poured. I glanced at the radar and it was a solid line all the way down.
I found it interesting b/c there was a line before that, earlier in the evening, that pushed from the I-35 corridor (SAT - AUS) over towards College Station & points north. One of the local 10PM forecasters (won't name him) drew a aline on the screen from Brenham to Conroe and said 'most of the activity will move off to the east and stay north of Brenham to Conroe. There is a chance some more could develop along the south end of the line and affect northern portions of Harris County, but I really doubt that will happen.'
Well, I did not see it in action, but it appears that line #1 did skip north of us, but then another line, further south, developed along the front and moved through the entire area, giving us all a big soaking.

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather:Spring, is that you?
What a bumpy early morning around NW Harris County. Storms were rather strong with heavy rain and the thunder woke the dogs and had them jumping in the bed around 3:00 AM. Nice to have all the pollen washed down though.

I would have loved to have slept too, David. Sort of difficult when you have a 60 lb English Springer trying to curl up around your head and another Springer about to push you out of bed.

We got quite a bit of rain, but I don't think we had any storms the other day. If we did, I slept through them and didn't even know about it. The past few days have been really nice. The nights are still chilly, especially out at the ballpark. Brrr... need a jacket and a blanket out there!
And no 80s in the forecast here yet. Upper 60s for highs the next few days, followed by low to upper 70s the following 5 days. Getting closer, though.
