DAY # 47 of Heatwave 35.4C 95F today
Feb 23-Apr 10 *and counting... daily highs at or over 33.7C 93F, a very rare event in the Eastern Caribbean for such an extended period
Trinidad continued to be located south of a trough system which has been providing rainfall to the Central Lesser Antilles. Temperatures at Piarco Airport peaked at 35.4C 95F on Saturday, the 47th consecutive day at highs over 33.7C 93F. Truly, historical in it's length.

That trough was continuing to bring heavy rains to some of the islands, including in Barbados where over 10 mm of rain fell at Grantley Adams Airport, April rainfall there stands at over 40mm now.

Compared to Trinidad's meagre 0.4mm at the Airport.

The rains were not confined to Barbados. St Lucia saw rain today also. Martinique saw over 23mm, and Guadeloupe 27mm. The heaviest rainfall by far was across portions of Dominica, where over 88 mm of rain has fallen ( over 3 inches) This kind of rainfall would have caused localised flooding on the island. It is legend that Dominica is the land of 365 rivers. This kind of rain brings this to mind even moreso.

Finally,it seems that wet conditions are gradually coming in the Eastern Carribean, between Barbados and Guadeloupe.Let's see if the San-Juan forecast for an upcomming wet week is on the store

The last two days have been wonderful a great deal of rain, a great
breeze, cool temperatures - plus a bonus - the tree frogs were out in
force last night which was akin to a sodden symphony. Today it seems
is going to be the same; already it is chucking it down at the moment.
If the leaves, flowers and vegetables could sing there would be an
additional chorus to complement the valley pitter patter This
weather is really refreshing and much needed. We feel like doing a
Grene Kelly - maybe a tannia leaf for an umbrella - and singing in the
rain........ not that we can remember the soundbyte totally!!
It looks like a great weekend, good for catching up on all those jobs
in the home!

Torrential rainfall has fallen in parts of St Lucia overnight.
It's either feast or famine, with Trinidad on the trough's south side having no significant rainfall reported and the airport reporting widespread smoke and haze this morning.

Waouw that's a lot of natural champagne on Basse-Terre glad to see that HUC . I don't have measurement near my location but Duclos (Petit-Bourg) or Versailles is not so far, so i think that i should be on this value too.
