Thinking about MSRobi911 so much since her passing on Saturday, I started thinking about all the great times in chat. There's a group of "regulars" who come in often, but I wanted to extend the invitation to everyone on the board. With Hurricane Season just around the corner, more and more members will start creeping in, but why wait? Get to know your fellow s2k'ers a little better in a chatroom atmosphere. We have the main room where the topic is generally weather (#storm2k) and an off topic room where we talk about whatever people feel like talking about (#storm2k_ot). Please join both rooms. This is much easier with an IRC client (mIRC, Pirch, etc.)

Many great and lasting friendships have been formed in the chatroom. Stop by and visit! It's open 24 hours/day. If nobody is talking when you enter, sit tight. Many people stay in there and do other things as well, so they could be away from their computers or doing something else online. Sometimes the room is very busy and other times it's kinda slow. Hang around if it's slow and it will pick up.

To connect with IRC clients, you'll need to select the EsperNet server (irc.esper.net) and to join the channel (room):

Type:
/join #Storm2k for the main weather chat
/join #Storm2k_ot for the off topic room.

You can set it up to automatically enter the Storm2k channels, then you're just one click away from entering the chatrooms. You can also register your nickname if you'd like, but it's not necessary.

After you enter the room you will get an automatic nickname. Please change your nick to your Storm2k username. To change it, use this format: /nick your name when you enter the room.
For example: /nick southerngale

There are many MOBILE options as well. Here are a few:

Got an error on every link I hit. Even disabled the firewall but that didn't help.

If you're trying to connect with the Java link, you have to click "Run" when the security window pops up.

If that's not it, what error are you getting?

scroll down to "esper", choose a nick and put #storm2k in the channel box

When I clicked your link, I connected, so I don't know what the issue is, but it's probably on your end. Java can be cranky.

If you can't figure out the problem or don't want to bother, try connecting through mibbit:

If you think you're going to chat with us very often, I recommend downloading mIRC. That's what I use and I love it. It's a much better chat client, but Java and mibbit aren't bad either. Hope to see you there!
