Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Scattered storms and 90's.
Didn't get too much out of that here at the house. winds gusted around 35-40 maybe and just spits of rain and a tremendous light show. Daughter who lives closer to Jersey Village said "all hell is breaking loose here". My guess is they got the worst of it there with winds probably into the severe range. It looked like the Red Sea splitting on the radar when it approached our house. Rain may end up amounting to a trace unless more storms move in over night. Other areas of the metro have had 3"+ from what I have heard.

Thanks Dave!! We may still get some tonight here in Houston if that system out by SA holds together. Study hard!

Must be nice! I got exactly 5 spits of rain and that was it.
lol - not much here yesterday either. There was a ton of thunder and lightning and it was really windy and I had limbs down in the yard, but not a lot of rain to go with it.

Well, yeah, except last weekend I got 1.01" but the airport just a few miles south got almost 3" - along with most of Houston....

Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Hot and dry with temps in the 90's.
Been a nice weekend, but it is definitely heating up and we will start drying out more quickly with the temps in the 90's. Even our rains last week didn't erase the deficit. Definitely helped though. Haven't had to water for over a week.

I soaked my lawn yesterday anticipating another hot and dry week ahead. This year I'm trying to soak it once a week instead of running the sprinkler system 3 times as week (it encourages deeper root growth, etc.). So far, the lawn is doing very well.
I've hit over 100 a few times already this spring in my back yard. I know my thermometer is accurate but I think my back yard is a hot microclimate with the concrete pool deck, etc.

I have been watering for days! Is the 'Cactus Forum' open?

Cajun Mama. Unfortunately, I have seen too many days like that here in The Woodlands. Many times rain will be coming straight for us, then split and form all around us. I used to joke about some weird High pressure dome around this particular area.
Have you received any of the rain today? Looks like Lousiana has a nice coverage of storms.

We just had a very brief thundershower here in the Spring Branch area of Houston. No other storms around. Just this one rogue on the West side. didn't do any good though. Didn't even get the pavement wet enough to know it had rained.

Dave wrote:Vb, remember when I had all that snow and wanted to get rid of it? Ok, 92 degrees is hot enough up here...think you can find some of that snow around and send it north? 92 isn't bad but dewpoints in the upper 60's to low 70's make it rough.
Welcome to our normal summer!! It was 95 here at the house today. That is about 7 degrees above normal. We were happy because the dewpoints were in the 60's today.
