 90 - 100's up here aren't too bad until the humidity/dewpoints kick in so I could handle it. I thought about moving back to Texas/Houston or Austin in the fall, at least the temps will be down a little.

I see the clouds building to the NE of us today -- I think we have a good chance at being in the right spot for rain later this afternoon or evening.

Fingers crossed here. I have pulled up all my pretty flowers and started to plant cactus plants just in case (just kidding..The Woodlands would never allow such a thing). Just got finished mowing and I am no official, but it is HOT and the ground is DRY!

No rain for me last night, but there sure was a lot all around me. It just missed me...maybe better luck today? Too early to tell.

Same here. Lots of noise and even outflow boundaries going by, but no rain. I was deep watering at the time so I was hopeful.

Just had/am having a good old fashioned thunderstorm her at the house with a deluge and plenty of CG close by. Was watching this build coming in from Magnolia and it was doing its' best to go severe, but I don't think it made it. In fact I told the wife if things started happening she was joining me on a chase. She wasn't too keen about that. Deluge is over but we are now getting backbuilding moderate rains. Also looks like we may have more coming in from the NE. Could be an interesting evening in Houston.

edit 11:45pm: We had another round of storms come through and had VERY INTENSE CG in my area. I just about jumped out of my chair one was so close. Very little rain with this set of storms. Looks like a total of 1" in the gauge.

We had intense storms starting around 5pm or so. The severe thunderstorm warning came just before it got bad. Very heavy rain, tons of thunder and lightning, very windy, and even got some hail! I hadn't seen hail in a very long time. I sent the report and we called local stations, who were already aware. The storms weren't moving much and lasted for a long time. My sister's electricity was out for several hours tonight.

Finally picked up some rain here. We got lucky as the rain moving from East to West missed us but began building back East ( a little after 9:00 pm). Once it started building back, there were never any warnings issued but there were strong winds, multiple lighting strikes and very heavy rain. Rained for about an hour and I could not have been happier. Sure hope Wednesday and Thursday comes through with some measurable rainfall for all of us. Have a great and HOT Memorial Day!

I got .40" last night - not too bad but the areas around me saw a lot more. We just missed the worst of it - to our north a bit. It was quite a lightning show though. The plants sure are much happier!

I like our chances today again - plenty or moisture, and more early afternoon storms to our N/NE which will push the outflow to the South and West this afternoon.

Almost a 1/4 inch here last night. While the rainfall was badly needed, not enough to help out that much. I have been watering daily for over a week. Here's hoping the much talked about rainfall mid week materializes. Time to fire up the grill and get in the pool. Happy Memorial Day folks! :flag:

Srain,
Off the subject a bit..But, since we have been behind on rain and in anticipation of water restrictions, I now water every 3 days for an extendind period of time. My system waters the lawn for 30 minutes on each station and 10 minutes for flowers (total of 2 hours). While I do have some areas that get a little burned, nothing has died and is completely restored when I water. My lawn looks a lot better now that I water less frequently but when I do, it is a substantial amount of water. Last year we were only allowed to water 2 days a week for most of the summer and I am preparing my lawn for that again.

Good point Flyinman. I am very careful on my water usage as well. I have been using the water sprinkler versus the irrigation system for watering the front only. I actually did not start the irrigation system watering until Friday (10 minutes per zone). With a pool and 2 outdoor fish ponds, we have learned to be very careful when watering for the past several years and water conservation is very much in the forefront of my thinking regarding water usage. Here's hoping for some real rainfall soon, but I fear we may well be heading to a drought situation.

But now they seem to be back a little for today and tomorrow. So it seems we will either have nice clear skies or 10" of rain :) I wonder if we are ever going to get back into somewhat of a normal weather pattern. As a kid, I did not even know anyone who had a sprinkler system as we received so much rain over the summer and the local news stations used to have a guessing game on total rainfall since we received so much.

Looks like tomorrow might be our best shot. Not a great one though:

Getting a lot of thunder at this time in NW Harris County, but no rain yet. The radar is lighting up though to the S and as well in Centarl TX. HGX is more hopeful concerning rain chances and perhaps not as hot as they expected...

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX

.DISCUSSION...
SOME MINOR HICCUPS WITH AWIPS THIS MORNING BUT EVERYTHING BACK TO
NORMAL AT PRESENT. OTHERWISE CURRENTLY MONITORING THE DEVELOPMENT
OF ISO/SCTD TSRAS THAT HAVE STEADILY MOVED NORTH FROM THE COASTAL
WATERS SINCE THIS MORNING. ALSO KEEPING AN EYE OUT TO THE W/NW AS
WE AWAIT THE ARRIVAL OF THE UPPER LOW/TROF AXIS. THIS FEATURE COM-
BINED WITH THE HEATING SO FAR/LACK OF A CAP AND ABUNDANT MOISTURE
SHOULD MAKE FOR AN ACTIVE EVENING FOR MOST OF CENTRAL/SOUTH CENTR-
AL TX. HAVE RAISED POPS FOR TONIGHT FOR WNWRN ZONES THEN FLIPPING
IT TO THE ESERN COUNTIES FOR EARLY TOMORROW. AS PER THE LATEST IN
MODEL DATA...THIS UPPER LEVEL TROFFING WILL BE SLOW TO CLEAR/MOVE
OFF TO THE EAST AS IT SEEMS TO LINGER AOA THE TX/LA COAST THROUGH
THE REST OF THE WEEK. SO IN LIGHT OF THIS DEVELOPING TREND...HAVE
BACKED OFF (JUST A COUPLE OF DEGREES) ON THE HOT/DRY FCST FOR THE
WEEKEND. THE SAME RULE WILL ALSO BE APPLIED TO NEXT WEEK AS LONG-
RANGE GUIDANCE ARE ALL STARTING TO LEAN A BIT MORE TO THE WETTER/
SLIGHTLY COOLER ECMWF WITH THESE 12Z RUNS. 41
