LOL ... The heat index got up to 117ºF, but not as bad as Saturday when it got up to 130ºF (don't know how accurate that is).

Now it's a cool 83ºF after a shower that left 0.18 inches of rain!

Got down to a chilly 84 degrees last night for a low. Heat index was 99 degrees when I went to bed, at that time the temperature was 86.

I'm sure it's considerably more comfortable here, though. Cold front went through earlier today, and while it didn't affect the temps, it is much less humid :D

No less humid here and no rain today. BUT we did have a breeze! Could have used that breeze on Saturday morning when we were working in the yard - it was down right nasty.

The last 7-10 day period has been one of the nastiest I can remember. Mid upper 90s by themselves, not terribly unusual.....but with 75-82 degree dewpoints, even in the afternoon? That was some of the worst heat I've ever felt here, this past weekend.

St. Pete supposedly got up to 97 degrees to break a record. I have my suspicions. The sensor is reading 88 right now....currently at my house its 82. 6 degree difference in a 20 minute distance. That should be cooler inland.

NWS has verified the record for St. Pete for yesterday:

...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT ST PETERSBURG JUNE 11...

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 97 DEGREES WAS SET AT ST PETERSBURG -
ALBERT WHITTED AIRPORT TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF
95 DEGREES LAST SET IN 1978.

Officially the NWS is forecasting 95 degrees for St. Pete tomorrow. Some of the hottest temps I have seen.

The only two other times I have seen such a long stretch of forecasted/reached highs in the
mid 90s for Saint Petersburg was August 2005 and Summer 1998 with that La Nina of 98. That was
a super hot summer here.

Tampa's Vandenburg Airport is currently reporting 97*F, and hit 99*F yesterday.
Tampa International is 94*F now.

Tampa international is up to 96 with 95 at st pete clearwater airport... a real blazer with minimal cloud cover. it will be interesting to see if we can get some thunderstorms to go later on. if so there could be some whoppers with all this surface heating.

And that is the first 100F anywhere in the bay area, an area that just doesnt see 100F. I think quite a few records fell today. I'm currently looking at 95 here at my house. Very hot, but I dont know where the rain is.
