Discussion from TPC 2:05 PM:Surface trough well defined

#1 Postby cycloneye » Mon Aug 11, 2003 1:04 pm

Scroll down to surface features and read the second paragrafh and it says about the trough at the surface as a well defined one.I consider that statement at discussion important because if that is the case it only needs convection to begin the developing proccess.

TWD also mentions another high amplitude TW exiting off the coast of Africa as well ... here's the excerpt regarding 91L...

MID/UPPER LOW OVER THE CENTRAL TO W ATLC HAS SLOWLY WORKED ITS
WAY TO THE SURFACE WITH A WELL DEFINED TROUGH NOW EVIDENT ON THE
SURFACE ANALYSIS EXTENDING FROM PUERTO RICO NWD OVER THE ATLC
ALONG 65W. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR SLOW DEVELOPMENT AS
THE BROAD UPPER TROUGH CURRENTLY IN PLACE WEAKENS AND A E/W
RIDGE TAKES SHAPE. REGARDLESS OF DEVELOPMENT...THE SYSTEM WILL
CONTINUE TO PRODUCE ACTIVE WEATHER IN THE FORM OF
SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS AND ENHANCED WIND AS IT MOVES WESTWARD
TOWARD THE BAHAMAS AND FLORIDA AT 15-20 KT.

Low

Actually, the discussion doesn't say that the low has worked its way down to the surface, it says a trof is now evident at the surface. Yowever, you are correct, development has to start somewhere, and this could be the very early stages.

Yes stormsfury a new wave is analized by TPC but it is not the one chad posted about because that one is still one day away from the coast.

Yeah, I know ... this one could help supply moisture for the wave back in Africa once it's ready to exit.

It sure has been wet here, but nothing like the flooding that has been occurring in Dunnellon along the Withlacoochee River and down the west coast, south of Tampa along the Myakka River.

If that 'mosquito chopper' would make a flyover from Jonathan's to Chad's... it would pretty much pass over me. :o :) Every few night (usually a number of minutes after midnight, the last time 11:45pm ET) a truck drives down my street spraying for mosquitoes.

I know, Jonathan, I have heard the news reports about it. Healthcare workers say that it is still rare to get West Nile Virus.

We are so waterlogged here in the panhandle that the local mets are saying that IF we were to get ANY tropical moisture that hung around for any length of time, we could be looking at a disastrous and dangerous situation. The mosquitos are even sick of the rain, they are heading inside my house!! WNV is a huge concern and those trucks can only do so much when there is standing water EVERYWHERE! It has not rained here in 2 days and water is STILL standing. It is forecast to start back up with the T'storms tonight! We really just cant take much more, especially in the form of a tropical system! :o
