I guess this is the best place to post this as I don't want to "clog up" the discussion of Alex's strength and track.
We're experiencing some of Alex's outermost bands here along the northern gulf coast. It's raining very heavy outside right now, in fact. We're going to have a very wet week between Alex and a front approaching later in the week. Here's a link to the AFD from Mobile NWS that discusses Alex's effects in our area: http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=MOB&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1
Also, the talk of the town has been how will Alex affect the oil spill, which already has been really messing up our beautiful white sand beaches. Here's a link to a news article about how Alex may actually help, and how he may hinder, oil spill relief efforts: http://www.wkrg.com/gulf_oil_spill/article/alex-looms-over-oil-spill-but-may-actually-help/901665/Jun-29-2010_10-01-am/
FYI-- Alex already caused the postponement of the Jimmy Buffett/Kenny Chesney/Zac Brown Band/Allen Toussaint benefit concert at Gulf Shores from this Thurs. to July 11th.
