It's keying in on the megawave on the Western Side of Africa. The NOGAPS to some degree also keys on this but pulls it NW east of the CV islands. (Totally different pattern north of what the Canadian's depicting)

Moisture for the next one...it looks better anyway. The Azores Low currently pulled a couple of these waves NW and even north into the Saharan Desert.
Looking at some loops, there's still some evidence of a cyclonic turn. Flat ridging is progged in the Azores region once again in the next few days.

The CV season will turn around quickly I fear as the MJO gets in the atlantic and azores high restablishes.
