What the heck is a FLOATER?
I'm sorry but I am not a Tropical Expert...

In simple terms, a "Floater" is a satellite camera/sensor that can be focused on a specific area of disturbed weather. The "Floaters" cover a limited area but have a much greater resolution. When a special interest area is active, the satellite operation folks can focus these sensors/camers on that area. That's what we call "Moving the Floater"
The NHC site offers 2 different sets of floaters on their web site. Two storms at once
