That wave still looks very impressive and its presentation still looks mighty suggestive.
Could well see the first real chance of a CV system from this one IMO.

Re: Massive wave Over Africa
This system although continues to show a decent curvature, the convection has decreased somewhat from two days ago when our friend Ivanhater made the thread with the loop at the first post. But lets see when it splashes into the water to see how it evolves when it enters to a new enviroment.

Re: Massive wave Over Africa
If i may make a point, its not Cape Verde season yet, and Bertha isn't on the list this year, this is what happens in June and July.
The trains of convection we've seen early on trouble me come August though.

Why that specific year?

Storm name astrology. Bertha has a history of being a July CV Major.

This was the wave that Ivanhater made the thread and now has emerged Africa. They are watching it as a unofficial test invest 20L PG120L.

Makes sense to test an invest in this neck of the woods given the expected busy period deeper into the season...

It has little convection at this time.but watch it as it moves westward as the tendency this season is for systems to start gaining organization after 50W as the wave that spawned Bonnie showed.
TROPICAL WAVE HAS MOVED OFF THE AFRICAN COAST ALONG 21W S OF 19N
MOVING W NEAR 15 KT. UPPER AIR SOUNDINGS FROM DAKAR SENEGAL
INDICATE THE WAVE PASSING AROUND 25/0000 UTC. LOW/MID-LEVEL
CYCLONIC FLOW IS ABOUT THE WAVE AXIS EVIDENT IN BOTH SATELLITE
DATA AND SATELLITE DERIVED WINDS. THE WAVE ALSO COINCIDES WITH A
MAXIMUM IN DEEP LAYER MOISTURE SEEN IN TOTAL PRECIPITABLE WATER
IMAGERY. NO SIGNIFICANT DEEP CONVECTION IS NEAR THE WAVE.

Re: Wave off African Coast
You can see the spin without convection. This same thing occured with the wave that gave birth to Bonnie further west. I am not implying this one will do the same, only I say lets keep an eye on it.

Re: Wave off African Coast
The structure looks very promising. Many of the models do show a weak low-pressure near the Leewards in about 5 days.
Overall, this is probably our next most likely candidate for "Colin".
