Is there a specific wave that the models are picking up on to develop?

That next wave that hasn't emerged yet might be a player.
Surface analysis has it at 1002mb:

Re: Wave SW of CV Islands

#92 Postby Riptide » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:07 am

It looks like the CV season is about to begin in a big way. I think the wave that is currently over the Central Atlantic will become a significant system closer to home(Most likely in the Caribbean) while the preceding wave becomes the first major CV storm or hurricane.

:double:

The SAL has also greatly diminished. It seems the prospects for an active season are looking more positive again.

I've been keeping an eye on these 2 waves also. I think chances might be better for the one emerging Africa now. The MJO is expected to be convection-supportive in early to mid August, so if other favourable factors remain, we could see the start of some real action.... :double: (just my humble opinion)

Latest ... I think this wave needs to be watched as it approaches the Lesser Antilles ... that time of the year is coming.

I still think the wave that's coming off the coast is the one to watch, but this one might spin up to. Activity is rapidly about to pick up and by next week we'll really be feeling it.
