One of the main reasons why we are on this website is the excitement and thrill of seeing storms whip up, whether they are hurricanes, tornados, snow storms, etc. It's an interesting tight-rope we walk. We want to witness but pray that noone is harmed by them.

Certainly is a very impressive wave but I'm almost certain its not the GFS fantasy storm.

The area that actually needs to be watched is the convection to the west, the GFS and several other models have formed something from that area constantly in the last few days, though I think the evolution is very similar to TS Colin FWIW on the models...probably same end result as well....

Wow that's very impressive. That's the strongest wave I've seen thus far. It'll probably poof, but it's just another sign of a stronger wave train.

Do you remember Rita and Ike? I do ... and you don't want any part of that type storm on your doorstep. No utilities, long lines for food and ice, no conveniences ... no thanks. Tracking and watching is one thing, and it can be fun, but experiencing first-hand is a very different story.

Is it one complex or 2 separate lows? Impressive nonetheless. Maybe this will be the first CV long-tracker. Lots of dry air, too. Usually these super looking African waves turn out to be non-factors. The last one I remember looking this good ... and that did develop ... was Dean in 2007. The models picked up on Dean while it was still over the African coastline.

Pretty much every wave poofs when it leaves land. The question is weather it redevelops in the days that follow.

Until we get back into favorable MJO, none of these waves are probably going to have a shot...I think we've seen that duplicated many times already this year. Once we get into favorable MJO, then they will have a shot.

CZ, the models are pretty keen on development of some sorts with it, may not be a strong system but I think this could become something a little down the line in say 72-96hrs from the convection to the west of the wave.

Also, look at the way the ITCZ has exploded into life, thats a sure fire sign things are shifting again.

GFS still trying to devlop it though it seems to have a similar set-up as Colin with a double Vort signature. ECM also tries to get something going.

I thinkthe odds are pretty decent for something to get going from this, but will probably meet the same end as Colin unless it manages to stay far south.
