Well given the other agencies aren't seeing anything, and its quite clear there isn't anything of note in the region they are saying, I'd not be too worried....

Maybe the Govt has put more pressure on them to 'upgrade' things quicker?

There's a big area of convection heading west....maybe that's the one that PAGASA is tracking......If it hits the country, it would bring some much needed rainfall.....

hat convection seems to be enhanced by the ULL, its infact nearly exactly the same type of set-up as we have in the Atlantic right now with Ex-Colin.

So that huge storm system would have no way of forming into anything because to an untrained eye that looks pretty impressive...

Guys,

Is this a new system or part of 96W powered by the ITZC?

Well I dont know about any where else but we have had ALOT of rain here something like that where to come here weather it develops or not there would be in my OPINION which shouldnt be taken as a foracsting tool would be bad because I think it would cause some flooding. But I am no expert.

dhoeze, its a blow up related to the strong upper divergence caused by the ULL that is present at the moment to the NW of the convection.

I just had to edit post, I getting confused with 96W and 97W lol.

Yes it does look like it's getting together pretty nicely with sustained convection over that area for a while now.

Looking a bit better right there in that image, that northern area of convection has got a great inflow from the south as the ULL keeps strong upper divergence across the region.

There is an amazing amount of convection in the WPAC right now but hard to make out anything in 96W supposed region that is developing really.
