Maybe a hint of a west wind?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The is really reaching but it's the first sign of a west wind I've seen

Hurricane Hunters have to find the west wind. Don't know if they will. This system is moving at a very fast clip. I say it will be over and done with by Friday afternoon - whatever happens to it.

Buoy data is a confirmed source for determining winds as far as I know. :-) We'll just have to wait and see if it holds. :-)

Alright ameri, spill the beans! Don't hold out on us. You can just encrypt what he said. Just put on dark sunglasses; he'll never know 8-) BTW, I think we'll have ERIKA at 5pm. Look at the circulation wrapping up in the GOM....west wind be damned :o Cheers!!

I read JoeB's discussion on another site and here is what he is saying. Basically if it stays weak then it will be a taco storm and the high over North Texas will keep it on a westerly track. If the circulation redevelops to the North then quick intensification will take place and will take on more of a northward track. Also if it does redevelop farther to the North then he is thinking it will be at least a Claudette storm or better. Something like that.

What I am seeing is this thing getting it's act together as of now. I think it will be a Texas storm but like a few people have pointed out, you have to look at the big picture. There is a high pressure system over North Texas that should steer this puppy into the Mexico BUT if redevelopment is farther North which could be the case then that will change things. Most models bring this system into Mexico only two days out so there is a good bit of confidence there. By 5 pm today, we should have a better feel on what this system will do.

Ticka, I know it's your site but that's about the 3rd one liner I've read from you the last couple of days. You might be right, but you got me wondering....

Anyway, as for Bastardi, no reason not to get that 30 day free trial. I got mine in early June and plan on keeping it until October. Not a big deal, but lots of good stuff to chew on for $19.95 a month. And if you even carry it until October 14, 2003, then you get 60 days for $19.95. Not a bad deal. He's all into it.

Yea.. what Joe B says in his video is he is really worried about 91L. He is worried about rapid intensification if the Mid and low level circulations can co-locate and that people along the Texas Coast need to watch yada, yada, yada He also mentioned some Wave South of PR that needs to be watched for late weekend and early next week in the SE Gulf. (mind you this is Joe B saying this not me lol).

I'm not right Steve. For now I'm going to watch and see what it does in the GOM. Seems that a West wind might be trying to develop.
