Things are finally running smoothly and if you are in Texas, that TS warning is ILLOGICAL as the system is forecast to become a hurricane; thus, by definition, a hurricane warning is needed

This warning is issued to go along with the hurricane watch. Since it is not near hurricane strength YET; a TS storm warning is issued due to the fact that TS conditions will be met. The Hurrricane watch will be turned to a warning at the appropriate time. Probably at 2 pm :o Hunker down Texans!!

I have never seen this scenario where a hurricane is forecast, but no warning given, except for the botched track for Irene.

Also, I will not be able to read messages today. However, i will be at work this morning so you can e-mail me questions at dortt@rsmas.miami.edu (before about noon when I am getting some much needed rest)
