Needs to be watched but the ECM+GFS suggests the weakness that is left is more then strong enough to lift this one up and out of the way...
This pattern of a weakness at 60W is VERY stubborn and I just can't see any system getting past it just yet, its like 1995 where every CV system turned into the same weakness...and it kept getting bolstered by TCs going through it every few days.
Looking increasingly likely though there will be no major threats from the CV region this year bar maybe the E.Caribbean if we get a late brewer that blows up near the Caribbean.

Wow how lame, all 3 storms curve out around 60-65W. Boring. I hope September shows more promise.

Actually 06Z NOGAPs run has this system pretty far south and probably won't get picked up by the weakness. Pull tropical atlantic on the region tab for run.

I guess it's a matter of opinion but I believe this is great news.

Re:
Well if that's the case then I guess we should just go ahead and open a separate thread in advance for every possible name for the 2010 season.

I don't think it's "lame" at all. Because of a storm that didn't curve, I am no longer living in New Orleans. "Every storm is a bad storm when it's over your house"---me

hurricaneCW,
Guess when you're living in New Jersey it'd be lame - but to those of us who of live in hurricane prone areas of the Atlantic basin it's great news!!!
Sure, in some way we all understand that you're looking for "action", "excitement", etc., but perhaps you should visit South Florida or the Gulf Coast when a major hurricane is threatening, to see the fist-fights at the gas stations for the last of the gasoline, or the arguments at the supermaket for the last gallons of water (and at the Red Cross shelters for a space on a cold hard flood) and then perhaps you'd see that there's more to a hurricane than "excitement"...
Don't mean to be so blunt, but reality isn't the comfort of a cushy chair at someone's bedroom computer desk...
Definitely there are two camps on this board - those who are hurricane survivors or know of someone, and are still interested in hurricanes but know their deadly potential, and those who perhaps due to age or location have never witnessed a hurricane and don't understand that to ask for one is akin to asking for a broken leg...
There was a tough old Cajun fella who went through Katrina, and with almost tears in his eyes told TWC that he'd never go through that again, so...

Thank you, Frank.....well put.
The thing is with HurricaneCW, he never learns. I applaud his interest and enthusiasm, but not only does he not "get it", he never replies to someone's admonishment of his insensitive posts. Maybe he's quite young, don't know....

I guess I can't really understand because I don't live in a hurricane prone area, but I would enjoy seeing a system not recurve so far out.

Seeing a hurricane form and progress is the attraction itself. I Would rather see every hurricane go out to sea and be a fish than see one head for land where there are people who could lose everything they have. Just because a system becomes a fish does not mean you cannot still marvel at its strength and beauty and still get the excitement from tracking it.

The Euro has shown a strong westward bias this season, but that kind of track is certainly possible. I'll let you know for sure in 2 weeks.

Well said Micktooth. I am sorry for your loss. I went through Ike and I was very fortunate. Some of my friends were not so lucky and lost all they had.
