A cat-1 hurricane, a tropical storm, a disturbance in the gulf and an african wave will do that ;)

Danielle is looking pretty decent right now, wouldn't surprise me to see this one getting upto Category-2 tonight again.

Looking like Bermuda is going to be very close to this track...

Maybe 80 kt now, but I want to at least see solid signs of a satellite eye to go any higher.

outflow looks alot better tonite. this morning it was only good to the NW. she could very well go thru R.I. but that would mean the shear has susided, which wasnt forecast to relax for another day or so. then again the shear forecasts in the middle of nowhere are not always acurate, shear speed moreso than shear dir.

Well well, we still have two opinions from the models. A few still want to turn it toward the US, others (including the more reliable Euro) want to send it away to never never land. It will be a wait and see.

people I disagree with and doomsayers will delight.

BTW, Danielle becoming a fish will be the only thing doomsayers will be right on.

With Danielle making major status, Earl and probably Fiona all active before the end of August we will have an above average ACE for August.

So much for it's August 15th and nothing, season over.

Look out September!

OB, the thing the models are in strong agreement with either way is a pretty sizeable Bermuda threat.

Still far enough away to be uncertain about the extent of the risk to Bermuda but I'd punt and say its pretty sizeable at the moment.

The difference with Bermuda is that thier buildings are built to withstand hurricanes. Solid mostly stuccco and brick buildings on solid foundations. Unlike the stickbuilt million dollar buildings here on the OBX (seems a lesson we will never learn).

BTW, I like fishing and won't mind at all if we wind up with nothing but fish this year.

Danielle is a beauty, even more so from a distance.

Yeah exactly they have to be to counter the threat of hurricanes that they have sticking out in the ocean like that....still would be at least the biggest since Bertha and probably the strongest since Fabian...

One other thing, Danielle will produce some beautiful surf for the surfers (no swimming please). Tons of surfers here this week and the ECSC (East Coast Surfing Championship) is this weekend at Virginia Beach. Couldn't have been better timing.

The other good thing about this sort of track is we are going to get recon flying into the system fairly soon, so we will get actual information as to how strong Danielle really is...gotta love recon!!

people who said the season is going to be weak or a bust or watever, really dont understand weather and how quick it can change out there. they will be the same ones running for their lives when a huge storm is heading right for them.
