I am thinking there only going to go up to 120 knots. Looks very good right now, but unless something changes it think they will go with 120 knots. Hopefully we get to see some of Danielle on Bermuda's radar this weekend.

I've been out all day to finally log on and see the most beautiful storm in its full glory. Danielle is a stunner :-)

Yes, Leanne, and who knows? You may be the first place it landfalls! If you look at the NHC track, the very strong extratropical low it will become could quite possibly move towards England next week. Of course it's way too early to tell, but the models are trending its strong remnant low toward northwestern Europe...

This is truely a well defined and very powerful hurricane. But it is NOT near Cat. 5 strength. IMO, looking at the IR, the thunderstorms are deep but not that deep. According to the link below, all the deep reds have disappeared (cloud tops are warming) and are NOT located near the center. However, I would agree that a jump to 145 mph could be justified given a contracting eye and improved outflow.

Yeah I agree with that, 120kts seems reasonable though given the Dvorak estimate they may yet go a smidge higher to 125kts, we will see!

Danielle's structure on water vapor suggests that an eyewall replacement cyclone (EWRC) may be beginning. Notice how the eyewall appears to be "sinking". Likely that it has peaked.

Well they didn't go up on the advisory. Maybe they noticed the beginnings of the ERC?

It's interesting to me that they didn't drop the wind speed of Danielle after recon went through it even though direct measurement showed it was weaker.

I'd bring it down to 105 kt at the 11 pm advisory given the ERC.

It should still have time to re-intensify after the EWRC before the shear kicks in.

I've been looking at that possibility alot over the past few days and all we can do is wait and see. It will be interesting to monitor regardless :-)

The EWRC basically puts Danielle's peak intensity in stone. This will likely expand into a really large storm.

Cleary an EWRC which has been ongoing for several hours now. Will result in a larger eye and expanded wind field and lower max wind speed. Bermuda might get to TS force winds......MGC

A couple days ago someone posted a GOES .gif that showed a "movie" of images taken only one minute apart. You could really see the boiling convection in Danielle's spiral arms, CDO, etc. Where could I get that type of imagery which shows such a short time scale?
