Hmm, well have some report now, which normally I'd put in the "Caribbean" thread but looks like here's the spot! :D

The landlady came down at 5pm, just as I was trying to get into 2 hrs of updates, to make sure all my shutters are in working order (they are, and I showed her so 2 weeks ago, lol, she's a little forgetful, but a dear!) Today refilled medications to take me through Sept, checked mail, already had gas, water, topped up cell, plenty of can food. Then stopped in to visit some friends pulling their rental boats to safer locations, with a few coming out of the water tomorrow. Some others are taking down rigging tomorrow with extra tie-downs.
Image
Lest anyone should panic, did you notice the 5pm wind radii by quandrant for nearest points to the islands? 34kt wind 50nm SW quadrant, 100nm SE quadrant; 50kt winds extend only 30 nm in all quadrants. These are only issued on main advisories, not the interim. I've got 5pm advisory on http://www.weathercarib.com/100828-earl-adv14.jpg blowup you can see. Sometimes it helps to look at these and realize those strongest winds don't reach out very far.

I am making final preparations in my house so dont see me posting much today. Already the supermarkets and hardware stores are jammed with people buying last minute things.Although PR wont have a direct hit,we will see effects from the southern part of Earl. Will keep you informed as conditions let me do so from Monday afternoon.

Wind has picked up here, overcast skies while the sea seems to be getting rougher. No rain yet though.
