Re: ATL: Hurricane EARL - Discussion
Mark at HurricaneTrack is live streaming on the OBX. Not sure exactly where though. I couldn't believe all the trash cans I saw out on the street. Guess it must be pickup day.

Oh yeah, haven't seen one house boarded up either. That's just crazy!

Re: ATL: Hurricane EARL - Discussion
what is going on with the track....
what is causing earl to head NNE at say 20 degrees at least....is this going to continue....and miss say the cape by 200 miles ?
is fiona eroding the ridge enough to his SE that is recurving him
or perhaps she is riding the gulf stream

Re: ATL: Hurricane EARL - Discussion
I'm still waiting on some rain and winds over 15 MPH. It did peak at 25mph on the beach about 5 hours ago though. I can see from the front yard and radar there are bands that are close but I think this thing is bypassing my area by a good margin. Hope it continues that way for everyone north of me.
The surf is way up and tides appear to be running way above normal, as would be expected. (low tide right now looks like 3 ft. above what high tide would normally be).
Stay safe everyone!

Wow, the comments are running very few and far between on a storm so close to the coast. Cape Hatteras is getting in on some decent rainfall at this time.

Re: ATL: Hurricane EARL - Discussion
Can any pro mets give me an update as to the direction of this beast? I see that it is going NNE at presently. Could we on Cape Cod get a "miss' out of this?

I can't believe I'm stuck at work for another 90 minutes.

Things are looking much better now...it deviated east of the forecast track...and has weakened...too early to say the coast is clear, but I am thinking that NC may be breathing a sigh of relief when all is said and done. And the eastern deviation lowers the chances for a direct hit on New England significantly.

The new models have adjusted to the current motion and shifted to the east a little. The wind field is expanding, so I wouldn't be surprised if the eastern part of Cape Cod sees hurricane force winds for a short period. It shouldn't be any worse than many nor'easters though.
